They are both members of the oil producing alliance.

They need to be tight together to work against oil producers who are under the grip of the USA.

They have valuable resources which can have a profound impact on the nature of the world economy.

They dont need to be domestically similar to accept each others international view. Who, of course are both anti-imperialist.

When set against the US military, Iran and Venezuela and others must play their cards close to their chest, and take allies where they can.

Iran is a anti-western imperialism state and should besupported to that extent however, to the extent that it suppresses woman, homosexuals, and communists, it shouldn't.

As far as I know his views are mainstream, he has been supported by all majr Jewish groups in Venezuala at any rate. I am pretty sure the reason he is close to Iran is a simple economic one. Both Venezuala and Iran are major oil producing states in the middle of trying to seriously upgrade their economies. It makes sense for them to co-operate. He would be doing it no matter who was President of Iran.

There is also the secondary matter that both states are disliked by America so it is good insurance for them to keep a warm relationship.

of course are both anti-imperialist.
Both are firmly tied to the imperialist system by their position as oil sellers. As long as they don't strive to change such position, how can they be anti-imperialist?

Because both countries oppose western domination over their economies.

and, obviously any military action within the middle east or south america.

Why would selling oil prohibit you from being anti-imperialist?

Well they could also just ask nicely whether or not the NATO would like to invade them...
