MEXICO CITY - A U.S. Border Patrol agent shot and killed a 22-year-old Mexican who was crossing illegally into the United States, U.S. police said Saturday.

Not too much information here but the extremes to which is being taken to keep people out of the U$ is getting increasingly dangerous.

This isnt surprising in the least. Thousands of people die every year, if not from direct violence such as this then from exposure to the elements. The scary thing is that this is increasingly becoming the norm. Even the nominally "liberal" Democrats are increasingly moving towards nationalistic isolationist rhetoric which a lot of people are attracted to as some sort of panacea for "scary" globalization, which is scary since the border will likely become even more militarized.

instead of using so much money to keep the mexicans out of the states, the states should give aid to mexico and raise the standards of living. Solves both problems at once.

Not too much information here but the extremes to which is being taken to keep people out of the U$ is getting increasingly dangerous.
Border agents are not allowed to use such force against immigrants unless they are threatened. However, due to the personnel problems many border patrol agents have been recruited who aren't really qualified for the job which has resulted in several such incidents on the border. I remember a few years ago in which an unqualified border patrol agent shot and paralyzed a young adult who was trying to cross the border.
