Recommend it to everyone, it's increbily funny, sad and moving, a beautiful and wonderful film about genocide in Uganda under Amin. The portrayl of Amin should win an oscar in my opinion.

I was reading the Graun. There was an article about Oprah Winfrey's clout at the oscars, and she mentioned "Last King Of Scotland".
Why is it called that, btw?

Idi Amin proclaimed himself 'King Of Scotland' at one point.

I thought it was a great movie, although it focused more on the fictional protagonist more than Idi Amin himself. Forest Whitaker plays the dictator extremely well however, and after the film when pictures of Amin are shown it is made clear why he was chosen.
The Last King of Scotland was only one of the titles Amin gave himself. Check out his full title: His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."
That's a mouthful.
