A number of comrades from the Israeli Communist Youth League and I started publishing an independent youth newspaper. It's a short (4 page) paper that we publish every two weeks, called "Kol Hanoar" ("Voice of the Youth").
The idea for the paper came from a need to spread the movement among youths, but also to offer an alternative to the mainstream capitalist-zionist media, and to raise political issues that are relevant to youths. While the Communist Party has a good presence in the Arab press, the Hebrew press is very, well, Zionist and right-wing. The working conditions for our movement are very difficult due to the pseudo-fascist climate in Israel (75% of Jewish youths think Arabs are "uneducated & stinky"), so it aint easy to spread the newspaper, although there is a lot of social unrest that can help the movement. We set highschools as our primary target. But since the school administrations aren't exactly thrilled by our group, we sometimes have to spread them in semi-underground conditions (there are also IDF soldiers posted in every Israeli highschool). Still, we have members spreading the paper in schools in several cities, and the reactions so far are positive.
So, has anyone else experience in publishing and spreading newspapers on a regular basis? Any tips?
I was thinking that if a principal would publicly denounce our paper, it would become much more popular. But I'm not sure how to get a principal to do it without putting off our readers?
