Any one has seen this movie ? Its very powerful when seen from protoganist's point of view.

And any one who has the back ground information about RUF ? Wiki is somewhat biased in IMO. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_United_Front)

Oh BTW Dicaprio's performance is is really superb.

Edit: A warning the Movie is very violent in some Scenes.

Not too bad of a movie, not my favorite but it kept my interest.

I was annoyed with the movie. I don't like movies abotu African problems that involve white people discussing their emotions. The producers should have decided between a action movie with moralty, friendship and loyalty themes, or a historical movie that informs people of the situation. Becuase it was conflicted between the two it comes off as too preachy. This is typical of Hollywood styled films. Also Dicaprio could not keep a consistant accent. I was often confused between white Zimbabwe and white South Afrian, then at one point the accent was close to Australian or New Zealand.

The movie however did keep me entertained. It had interesting moments good acting performances, and I think I am coming a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio. I would probally give it a 6/10.

I've seen it, and think that it shows pretty well how people are being held as slaves to dig diamonds so the "high class" can something shiny on them to make 'em look pretty, not even caring where that came from. Killing and enslaving innocent, still going on today.

Yea it was a bit cheassy from time to time, but what can you do it's a H-wood flick (as was mentioned already). Jennifer Connelly was cool though, well she always is :)

As far as I know Amnesty International USA used this movie to spread information about conflict diamonds (or blood diamonds), so something good came out of it...as far as raising awarnes is conserned.

This is the Amnesty video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWjob0wlDOE) (one of them anyway)

It is a well put together PSA, but DiCaprio was only in it for PR, and to get people to watch it.
