Today, I was at a local protest. We held up signs against fascism, the war, free trade and the like, but mostly about the war. We got some honks, some middle fingers, and a few turn-of-the-heads when the person simply didn't want to think about the stuff we were talking about (which are rather funny to watch  ). It was all in good fun, and we were having an okay time in the bitter cold (as good as one can have at 32 F <_< ). I was holding up a sign that said " Bash the Fasch!." The girl next to me was holding up a sign that said: "No child Left Behind: New Orleans; Palestine; Darfur; etc.

Around forty-five minutes into the protest, this cop came up to us and told us that a man (who may not be mentaly stable) was coming to confront us. They were going to stay around just in case things got technical.

This older man then came to us. He walked past some of my freinds and I, and got right close to the face of the girl next to me: "You are a murder of Jews." And I was like, "what the fuck?" My freinds confronted the man, and said to one of my freinds: "you are a fucking anti-semite (which is total bullshit, because Arabs are semetic too. " He had apperently been through the holocaust, and actually said he was a zionist. He was pissed at how the girl had said had compared the genocide in Darfur to the Palestinian peoples problems. He said "there is no Palestine," and "there is only Judea."

He stormed of to tell the administration of the school we were at.

This guy is a total fucking asshole, and I'd like some counter-arguments and information about the genocide in Palistine.

Thanks,

The Estabilshment.

On average, three Palestinians die for every one Israeli, but during wartime that ratio goes as high as 10:1. You also could've asked him how the bombing of Gaza's only power plant helped the IDF find the captured soldier, Gilad Shalit. You also could've accused the Israeli government of purposely putting their own citizens in danger by literally cutting Gaza off from the outside world which would, of course, create anti-Israeli anger among Palestinian Arabs. Or, you could've said that Israel has been doing nothing but fighting for almost 60 years and that it's knees are finally starting to buckle under the weight of being a single nation inside an ocean of nations, all of whom want it .destroyed

The myth of Ancient Israel has been invented by western scholars ever since the Zionist state of Israel was created. There is no ancient Israel, Arab Muslims and Christians have ruled Palestine for 2000 years, and it has always been called "Palestine". Some people say Palestine was a term invented by the UN, but the Ottoman Empire used the word, the Mamluk Sultanate used the word, Greece used the word, everyone used the word, and all Arabs used the word.

Fuck this Zionist.

Know your history so you can defeat these people, they have created dozens of lies to make their genocidal imperialism seem OK. Just know the truth.

some counter-arguments and information about the genocide in Palistine.

Unfortunately there is very little you can do or say to counter someone like this. To them, the very idea that Palestine exists is utter blasphemy. In their eyes the land of Israel is, has always and will always belong to them and only them. They are among the most visciously ignorant, prejudicial people you will ever have the misfortune of meeting.

You're unlikely to convince somebody like this. And it's an especially a bad idea to get into an argument or a shouting match at a protest. It can become a larger conflict that distracts from your original purpose in holding the protest. Among other things the media will focus on the counterprotest or the conflict at the expense of the message.

Better to just ignore counterprotesters.
