what is Immortal Technnique's postion on homosexuality, womens rights, and abortion? some of the songs seem to suggest that he is opposed gays and abortion.

I am pretty sure IT is a fan of womens rights.
Not sure what his position on abortion is. The only few lines that he even mentions abortion related subjects that I remember are "I'll resurrect every aborted baby and start an army" and "...When an aborted fetus in a jar opened its eyes".
Where would you get that he is against homosexuality? If it is because of lines like "You know what the fuck I think is just pathetic and gay?" I really just think he is using the term gay to mean something along the lines of "I am not a fan of you". I don't think he is against homosexuals though.
But I don't really know.

Theres lots of threads on IT, I'll try to look for some later
Though, I gotta say, IT's homophobia turns off alot of ppl
That and his whole macho image
Rage: how do u know that IT's a fan of women's rights? You've met him personally, or interviewed him?
He does say something along the lines of:
"Im not a mysoginist/I just love it when girls are massaging this" and
"That's your girl, ***** get over here, give me some brain/I'll bust of on her face, and right after the segment/
She'll propably rub it in her pussy, trying to get herself pregnant"
Still hold that belief?

yeah but that is sorta part of the genre in general. Most rap artists call woman "*****es" and "hoes" and shit like that.

Uh... from his use of extremely homophobic language perhaps?
I mean, if IT was white, and he frequently described people as 'niggers' in a way that implied worthlessness and inferiority, he's probably got nothing against Black people right? I mean, fuck, a lot of white people who use the term 'nigger' to insult and degrade other people are hard up anti-racists, for real!
For fuck's sake wake up, you're an apologist for a homophobic scumbag.
Yeah yeah he's a good rapper, but if you good rhymes, beats or whatever is enough to make you overlook blatant homophobia, you really need to take a hard fucking look at yourself and think about how you justify calling yourself a 'communist.'

Well I don't have any lyrics or nothing to prove that, but I personally think IT has some respect for chicks. I remember when I went to the Rock the Bells concert back in the summer Imo Tech was performing and he started talkin about how women have more pride then men and how we should respect them or something. I can't recall his exact words but I think he can still be a fan of Women's rights and still demoralize them if anything.

He's not anti gay he's stated this several times at concerts and even mentions on tracks like "Crossing the Boundry" that the reason he says things that sounds disrespecful to women or gays is because of the slang he is used to hearing growing up in harlem and that people shouldn't take it personally . And to say he's mysoginist just because he talks about sex is ridiculous, several rap artists AND rock artists all have their tracks on sex, which is way worse. And Technique at concerts (btw you should be able to find these on youtube) has speeches inbetween songs talking about womens rights FREQUENTLY. and at concerts also states that he curses and uses the slang he does because of the way he grew up.

I am not a communist. I do not think that by saying "oh your gay" that makes him a homophobe. I think that homosexuals should have every right as heterosexuals and should be treated equally. With that said, I sometimes will say that a certain situation is gay or something along those lines. I know I should not because it is not politically correct and that people get the misunderstanding that I am a homophobe, but let me assure you, I am not, and I do not think Immortal Technique is either.

He starts one of his songs where he says he doesn't want do disrespect women. I don't think he is sexist, he might be somewhat homophobic, i really don't know. On the whole 'nigger' thing he has before stated that he isn't patiuclarly proud of suing that kinda language. Theres an interview where he talks about it somehwere, but I think there clearly is a difference between black people calling each other niggers and a white person calling someone a nigger.

I don't know about the homophobia, but I'd say he supports the right to abortion based on this from "THe Cause of Death",
"And as a matter of fact, Rumsfeld, now that I think back
Without 9/11, you couldn't have a war in Iraq
Or a Defense budget of world conquest proportions
Kill freedom of speech and revoke the right to abortions"

Yeah I don't think you should take EVERYthing serious IT say.
SO what should I take serious? Should I pick and choose what's good and whats not? I thought he was a "progressive MC?" Isn't all he spits supposed to be revolutionary? C'mon, give me a break
yeah but that is sorta part of the genre in general. Most rap artists call woman "*****es" and "hoes" and shit like that.
I agree, but not all rappers call themselves revolutionary
Nor do all of em put obvious "communist" symbols on their records
Nor do all of em walk around with Che on their shirt
Nor do all of em quote Malcolm or Fidel or Che
Nor do all of em......I could go on
Point is, he differentiates himself from other MCs claiming he's revolutionary, progressive, of the people, and yet he perpetuates homophobia and sexism
Not very revolutionary when it comes to respecting women and homosexuals, I guess that's not the fad
Trust me they're there
Off the mic he might respect them, but to "harden" his image he's gotta diss them in his music, after all that's what everyone's doing
Real revolutionary
Pro women's rights yet bash them in his music? I think not
Would u say the same about a skinhead rapper who believes everyone's equal yet spits subliminal or obvious racism?
C'mon, like BD mentioned, don't be apologists
He's not anti gay he's stated this several times at concerts and even mentions on tracks like "Crossing the Boundry" that the reason he says things that sounds disrespecful to women or gays is because of the slang he is used to hearing growing up in harlem and that people shouldn't take it personally . So what should take personally? Anything he says at all? Where do we draw the line? Is his whole revolutionary diction slang?
All of us have grown up in different surroundings, yet most of us who label ourselves revolutionaries, have abandoned our old way of thought and speech, why can't he? Maybe its to preserve that hardcore image he has on the mic?
I grew up around ppl who used "fag" and "*****" all the time to demean homosexuals and women
But if u knew me personally, you'd notice that those words are no longer part of my vocabulary
I've changed, many of us have changed, why can't this so-called revolutionary change his way of speaking?
In fact, I'll try to find the interview someone posted of him, where he openly admits that homosexual men are more respected for standing up for themselves than black or latino men (something along those lines)
Well I am a communist, and as such I consider anyone that uses the word "gay" or "fag" as an insult, to be homophobic or on the way to homophobia
"Gay" I can somewhat understand, children say "gay" to refer to something corny or stupid
But "fag" all the time from someone who's an adult and as socially conscious as IT, is downright homophobic
I think you're wrong
Anyone that uses "fag" as an insult is obviously aware of the conditions and stigma that homosexuals endure, and therefore he uses this particular word to humiliate others using the negative outlook that most of society has for the homosexual community
Revolutionary MC my ass

No black person calls anyone "Niggers" and so forth. A black person will say "Nigga" which means homie or something along those lines while "Nigger" is to insult a person of African-American Heritage which was used during slavery times in the U.S.. That said, no white person should use it in any form.

I also think most of us are forgetting that his true intentions is to start a debate, which is what a lot of people are missing.
He has woken up A LOT of brainwashed people believe it or not.
He even admitted , that he is not trying to get a bandwagon of idealists.
But more of a way to get his listeners to find out the truth by themselfs, some stick 100% to his views and some look for the truth or what IT is missing and have their own views.

Not at all superior. You've just exhibited a lack of comprehension in concerns to fundamental leftist issues and causes. Anyone that uses racist or sexist terminology is either reactionary, lacking in understanding of the nature of oppression or simply doesn't care. With any of the above, you can hardly consider yourself a revolutionary leftist, let alone a leftist.
It doesn't matter if he grew up with it, or you grew up with it and so on. Millions of Germans grew up using "jew" synonymously with human trash.. shall we let them sing about it?
He can be a fabulous musician--as fabulous as Wagner even (for those of you that don't get it, look it up)--but if he's using racism to further his own music, he should not be supported by any leftist. His ethnicity does not excuse his ignorance.

Though i have stopped using it, im just telling it from where i stand .
Yeah I'm on the East Coast and Hispanics use the word here, too.
Now is that from brown to brown? Or from black to brown?
Kuz in Cali, if I use the word toward someone who's black, Im gonna get my ass kicked
And I've heard some Latinos say it to other Latinos, but never in the presence of a black person
I think it has to do with the whole hiphop image and its influence

Like i said light skinned Hispanics as well.
And no, like i said Latinos and African Americans call each other that word.
Whether it be African American to Latino or Latino to Latino.
Its more of a "dude" reference if you will.

Where I live, it is almost entirely white people and sometimes white kids will refer to each other as "nigga", it's pretty pathetic.
