View Full Version : Here to Learn

Hey, I'm a girl, introduced to some very interesting truths by a fellow member here, and I'm starting to change my political views.
I'd just like to introduce myself as Nemichka. For a very long time, I was just a proud liberal democrat. "Oh, boo for president bush, but our nation is great, right?" was what I thought. I never read into what the government was doing, except for what I saw on the news.
This year, it changed. I was lent books on Hugo Chavez, Huey Newton, started reading about who Che was, who these people really were. I had been told by history teachers, books, etc, that these people were bad people.
I began to realize that that wasn't true.
So, I am starting on a bit of a journey to figure out what I can and will believe, and it's wonderful and a bit frightening at the same time.
So far, I am rather partial to anarchy, but in a way, I am sad that what I wish could happen probably never will (though my above mentioned friend thinks otherwise), which is that we could revert back to a life that didn't revolve around money and power, where we could live without jobs, time, government, and exist to learn, and do do things we loved. I feel that life today does nothing but prepare, prepare, prepare. High school prepares for college, college prepares for work, work prepares for retirement, and retirement prepares for death, and you are left with nothing. You were just another human on this earth that will fade away and never be remembered because they never did anything significant.
I want to break this cycle.
I don't know if my views will change. Like I said, I am in the very beginning stages of all this.
But it's something that I feel strongly about, and I am glad to be here with all of you.
Anyway, hope I can contribute to the forums. :D

Hey, welcome (and this is my first ever post welcoming anybody btw :P ), you sound like you have great potential to learn, kind of reminds me of myself around 6 or 7 years ago when I was getting into politics and searching for an alternative to what I even then considered a ridiculous and unjust system.

Also, it seems like some of these things can't happen at first, as that's how they are presented in the media and education. I know that sounds like some crazy conspiracy theory, but it's actually true when you think about it; why would the ruling class want anybody to believe a Marxist/Anarchist revolution is possible? Instead, they ridicule and 'downplay' it as a method of keeping the working class in their 'rightful position.' Also they don't want support for Marxists, hence the history texts and teachers telling you how evil Che Guevara was ;)

When I first decided to study communism, admittedly I had the preconception that it was unlikely to work, but as keen for education as I was, I read some introductory explanations of Marxism and was somewhat surprised, as well as relieved to find an alternative to what people these days automatically accept as the only possible supposedly 'democratic' political system.

Anyway, I hope you stick around, and I hope you learn enough to come to a reasonable and fair conclusion regarding anarchism or whatever ideology you wish to learn more about. ;)
