I guess this just about counts as history, what are peoples opinions on the moon landing, was it real, was it fake, maybe a bit of both? if your unsure about the facts, this page gives quite a reasonable account of the main errors http://moonhoax1.tripod.com/MoonHoax/id1.html

Ahhh, a welcome change from the usual political history El Marko. I definately welcome it as history.

It probably becomes political because of the fact that USA couldve hoaxed it to get one over on the USSR though.

I saw a programme on this one and the evidence is convincing. Just as it is on the site. There are a few more points on your link.

I think the conspiracy theories arent all that sensationalised, evidence is there after all right?

That theory is rubbish in the extreme, it doesn't hold up to elementary physics or logic. Most of the arguments used today originated in an article published in 1994 in the Fortean Times. However, besieged by letters by actual scientists, they were forced to retract the story and print a new one three years later explaining the elementary mistakes made by the author of the first one.

I noticed they're still using the C rock thing as evidence. This has been debunked long ago. It was fault during developement, there's no C on the negative.
All his evidence amounts to opinion from what I can see. The shadow stuff is laughable, the reason the shadows aren't paralell is because the thing making the shadows isn't paralell to the other part.

Fortean times is a good laugh, they do have some wierd stuff in there.

Bad Astronomy...does a good job of debunking the theory that we didn't go to the moon (http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/apollohoax.html)

Ya, I'm stupid, when I first heard about that I was like "Holy shit Mom, did you know we didn't go to the moon". That was a long time ago, I've gained some sense, read some webpages, figured out we went to the moon.

That site looks fairly stupid to me.

It claims that the flag blew on the moon. That is false as far as I know. An 'extensionary pole' was used to hold it up.

Yeah, I think all those theories are bullshit. I hope so anyway, I would be literally devastated if it came out it was a hoax.

Why? It wouldn't matter at all now. We can do it now anyway. If they proved the 69 landing was fake, it wouldnt really have much relevance other than to the people then.

Besides, the planets is what space travellers should be aiming for. We need to explore them.

I dunno, it's just a great achievement and it would be sad to think it was a lie. I agree about the planets though, we should definetly be concentrating on getting people to Mars within the next 10 years.

There was a show on here in australia, about a fake moon landing, then at the end of the show that the show had made up all the facts about a fake moon landing!
But at least we know theres half a dozen old style U.S.S.R flags on the dark side of the moon (If there isn't any where else) ..... before those two U.S flags

Aparrently no one inteds to do manned space exploration anymore cos its not economically viable, and they can't see the point. Kind of a shame I guess
