now that many of the old guard capitalists and imperialists are dieing off, what will the new generation be like? and i think its time to make a list of all the old bad guys who have died recently and who will be dead soon. so far i have pinochet, jean kirkpatrick, and milton friedman.

Unfortunately, they are already being replaced by younger rightists. However, these new righties will find that they will face huge opposition, especially as the century goes on. I would say that this century will see many revolutions throughtout the world.

No, they're puppets, they don't really control anything.

The coming generation of imperialists are leaving college and entering think-tanks right now. The imperialists in power now and those coming into the system make up the present group. Those who are dying off these days, IMO, have a big influence on the present day, but they made their mark years ago.

The new imperialists will emerge in the younger, developing countries such as China, India, etc. As they work to secure more capital and markets, they will begin to come into increasing conflict with the older imperialist powers.

A New generation of the right may be growing in strength, however, if one draws contrasts between the period immiedietly following the fall of the Soviet Union, and the present day, there are many local struggles that have, be it implicitly or explicitly, the aim of allowing ordinary people and marginalised communities to gain control over their lives and economic environments in response to the growing power of international finance capital. Oaxaca and the Zapitastas are obvious examples.

This is a promising development that suggests that the potential for an international left-wing struggle exists. The advantages that were proposed by Neo-Liberal Economists in terms of the development of the third world have failed to materialise, rather the removal of tarrifs and barriers to the movement of Capital have allowed the internaitonal ruling classes to re-assert their economic power - something that many ordinary people have recognized. Its a Paradox - but with the growing power and domination of Capitalism, the future for the Radical left is looking bright.

The United States remains the foremost imperialist power of the world, however, as a previous poster suggested, nations such as China are become net-finance capital exporters and are growing in military strength, suggesting that in the future the 'dividing up of the world by the great capitalist powers' that Lenin spoke of will evolve into political and military conflict.
