mainstream hip-hop would die out since majority of the things they rap about have to do with inequality and poverty
do u think ppl would be stubborn tho and cling to the past and would the masses still eat it up??
i'd love to see a more imaginative version come out....i like hearing stories Ex. Immortal Technique- Dance With The Devil
or just crazy things that would probably never happen (can't think of an example right now)
what does everybody else think??

i think this will be of the least concern, rap doesnt always have to go about the ghetto and drugs.

i know...i hate mainstream hip-hop myself...its the same stuff over and over again
*****es and drug dealing...no disrespect meant to the women

Also, not all mainstream hip-hop has to do with "*****es and drugs." Though, I will admit, most does. Lady Sovereign, for example, though she's far from being revolutionary, she raps about partying and having fun and about some stereotypes.

Hip-hop is not relative to poverty, it is a form of cultural expression that draws from an impoverished milieu. Whether hip-hop would survive a far-leftist government would depend on the degree to which the state respects cultural and self-expression.
edit: Also, Lady Sovereign is fuckin' wack.

Leftist government? We had hiphop during the Clinton years, matter a fact, we had some of the most potent and revolutionary lyrics during those years (Pac, Nas, PE, KRS,...)
Maybe under socialism, MCs would touch on softer subjects such as love, the past, their lives, just having fun, or even battling a la Talib, Mos, and Common
Though I do fear that we would have a bunch of Lil John's running around

Bill Clinton isn't exactly a leftist.

ya i wasn't gonna say Bill isn't left....lol
also i'm not talking bout revolutionary hip-hop or hip-hop in general but the mainstream stuff that glorifies the "ghetto lifestyle", 50-Cent brags bout getting shot...like c'mon
and also the videos just portray women purely as sexual objects the majority of the time
guess what i'm trying to say is i hate mainstream rap and i want it to die...muhauhauha
