Some days ago I saw a program on the telly where some dude visited a island called Tristan da Cunha. It is a very little remote island and there is only 300 inhabitants. It is in the South Atlantic.

What is very interesting about this island is that is in fact anarchistic. They don't claim it themselves and haven't elected a president. They just live life as they always did.

In the program there was an accident and a house burned down. Everybody got up early the next morning and builded the house again.

The only store on the island is owned by the goverment, because nobody's going to make money on each other. The goverment gives money to people to live for, but it isn't very much. So the people on the island trades with fish, eggs, sheeps and clothings they make.

There is only one police-man at the island and he has never made an arrest and is about 60 years old. There are no crimes! They have a prison where a cow could easily escape from. It is used as storage for rescue equipment used if anybody drowns.

When the children graduate from school the teachers ask what they want to work with and they then make work for them.

An interesting fact is that is a member of the Commonwealth.

It sounds like something form a book, its almost too perfect. A goal worth striving towards.

1 question 7 surnames, sounds like Kentucky.

It's barely populated that's why it's perfect.

But if it's got chicks there, then I am going!

the only problem is that they aren't too much excited when it comes to strangers. so practically nobody comes from the outside world and settles. it's also difficult for some to live there because it is so isolated...

if you ask me the only reason that this little paradise is still existing is it's location. so little outside interference and almost nobody knows about the island...

Unfortunately it isn't anarchistic. It's a possession of the United Kingdom. (this is different to being a member of the Commonwealth) It has no president; it has a governor.

It makes money by selling stamps; a complete Tristan collection is worth LOADS. It's almost like a colder version of Pitcairn Island, except with 12x the population. Pitcairn is another British posession. It has 50 people and has a similar close knit community. You know, the HMS Bounty, Fletcher Christian and friends?

EDIT: Except Tristan isn't under martial law (http://www.lareau.org/fordarticle2.html) like Pitcairn.

No. They are a British possesion and are way too small to do that.
