"Communists" were arguing that Cuba is an oppressive state because "Cubans don't post here." However, that's not the case...

Apparently Cubans only have 1 IP address per 100-1000 people (can't see exact number based on the map) while the West has plenty.

I'll also point out that the blockade makes internet connections incredible expensive as they need satelite connections, which contributes to why not everyone will have frequent access to the internet. One could also compare the number of internet connectcions per Capita in Cuba to other latin american countires of a similar GDP and I'd wager Cuba doesnt come off so bad.

while i'm sure their government isn't helping them have access to open information, i'm sure the embargo doesn't help either. yet another reason to lift the embargo.

Indeed, I blame the embargo just as much as I blame the glorious people's police force that throws them in jail for counter-revolutionary activities against the glorious people's state.

An answer to the question: Replying to Why Cuba Doesn't Have Household Internet

1) They're waiting for true socialism to occur, at shich point, everyone will have state provided computer and state provided internet.

2) They're waing for Castro to die, free elections, a new revolution, freedom, and the ability to buy the connection from stores at a fair or discount price.

Well, for the most part computers that are in Cuba are most likely smuggled from Mexico or the United States.

It is illegal for any American based company to sell products to them, they have no access to Silicon, or silicon-based products to make their own, and any country that publicly trades resources with them is subject to their own sanctions from the United States.

Lets see you build a computer without any parts.
