i don't know why..but i like these questions, so i'll ask a few what if's and feel free to voice your opinion.
what if:
1) Lenin lasted 20 more years(and wasn't invalid..and could actually run the country)? Would Russia have been different? Would the world have been different?
2) che was succesful in boliva? What would happen to him? be the leader? or continue fighting?
3) there was no vietnam war? would americia be the same?
4) no Russia or china, would america still be the same?
5) Mao's son didn't die? would their be a mao dynasty right now?
6) China invades taiwan? what do you think will result from it?
7) What if hilter talked like donald duck? Would he have gotten far without his aggresitve style of speechs?
its late, and i know i'm not putting any thoughts on it...no one has to answer these, but i suggest people ask questions like this, its more intresting.
take care

''what if:
1) Lenin lasted 20 more years(and wasn't invalid..and could actually run the country)? Would Russia have been different? Would the world have been different?''
Erm your just going to touch on too many toes and bring up to much controversy with this one. I'll reccomed leaving it and for others posting in this thread to ignore it. Sorry I don't mean to sound like I'm interfering or trying to act like I own the place but in the interests of discussion for the other what if's it should be left.
''2) che was succesful in boliva? What would happen to him? be the leader? or continue fighting?''
Well Boliva becomes a Socialist Republic. The U$A won't intervene through military means, there dealing with Vietnam. But doubtless the CIA and local Fascist governments will react with horror. Either the new Socialist Republic is crushed or somehow (most likely through internal unrest) South America becomes Communist. Where this fits into the world stage I don't know. It's probably anti-Soviet and Warsaw Pact states, but pro-Mao? I doubt it, especially when Mao and the U$ start allying against the Soviets.
You've probably started WW3 with this one.
''3) there was no vietnam war? would americia be the same?''
Well the short term consquence is that the average young American of that era isn't so politicised. There's still the whole counter-culture thing but that particular generation in the early 60's (the baby boomers) was thought to be somewhat quiet and passive. Without Vietnam would that genertion become so 'radical'. There's still the Civil rights movement ofcourse. Well for one thing the prestige of America remains higher thant it did in our time line, there's not so much internal unrest and not so many people are inspired by the example of Vietnam.
Personally I think a direct result of no Vietnam war would be a huge American involvment in Africa come the mid 70's. For a number of reasons the American establihment was very fearful of interfering with the Agolan Civil War in the 70's and other struggles, relying on pupeets in South Africa and gangsters like Savimba to do their dirty work. Without the harrowing experience of Vietnam I can see F-14 battling it out with MiG 23's over the sky's while Cuban 'vollunters' in T-72's fight it out with American M-60's in huge tank battle's acroos the deset. The outcome or conquences of which anyone can else.
''4) no Russia or china, would america still be the same?''
Gosh you've done it there. How do we get no Russia or China? The only one I can think of is the Axis winning the war.
''5) Mao's son didn't die? would their be a mao dynasty right now?''
I doubt it. Although I don't know alot about Mao's son, was he into politics. Stalin's son for example went into obscurity, while on the other hand there's the Kim's in Korea.
''6) China invades taiwan? what do you think will result from it?''
Either China quickly wins, or cocks it up so badly it has to withdraw straight away. I mean does the PRC have a Navy? Especially one that can compete with the might of the U$. You could get WW3 out of that.
''7) What if hilter talked like donald duck? Would he have gotten far without his aggresitve style of speechs?''
Here's a more interesting one.
As the British Tommy's go over the top in July 1916 they note that one particular section of the front line is putting up a decree of resistance more fanatical than the others. The British officer in charge notes this and being a proud man decides he's going to teach those Huns a lesson. A young corporal of no particular note or significance in history watches as his comrades die around him, 'Gas' one had shouted. It wasn't ofcourse but you could never be to careful just particular heavy artillery. The young corporal fired into the lines of Tommy's coming towards him, it was a terrible shame ofcourse. The British and Germans (the young corporal forgot for a moment he was Austrian) really ought to be getting on, 'Civilised people' ought not to be fighting eachother. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his stomach, it was the bayonet of a British Tommy. The British soldier noted in his memoirs 'The bayonet didn't kill him outright. He was alive for the next few minutes, with everything going on it was odd that the one thing I remember about that battle was the way this young soldier died. I suppose it was his moustache that singled him out but's it what he said as he died. Something about the Jews and other non 'Ayrain' types ruining the destiny of Germany.'
So died the Unknown soldier whose statue graced the streets of Berlin. That was until Berlin was destroyed by the final nuclear exchange in WW3 in 1964.
Hmm I might conitune that if nobody mines.

I'm too drunk to answer all these, but I always think about #2. I think that would have been the begining of something beautiful. The U.S was seriously into Vietnam by this point, they wouldn't have a whole lot of resources at that point. Imagine, two wars on Communism at once ! Not likely. The revolution would have spread tp Argentina then possibly to the rest of the continent.

As for Lenin...perhaps he would've had Stalin liquidated and turned Russia in the right direction...
