Am I right in thinking that MLism is the most popular form of socialism?

And was it always so?
Because I remember reading Chomsky and he made the claim that most socialists, indeed most mainstream Marxists considered the october revolution as counter-revolutionary,is this true?

And is the popularity of MLism chainging?

Am I right in thinking that MLism is the most popular form of socialism? Yes

And was it always so? No, there was socialism before Marxism-Leninism, it has been the most popular since the early-to0mid twentieth century.

Because I remember reading Chomsky and he made the claim that most socialists, indeed most mainstream Marxists considered the october revolution as counter-revolutionary,is this true? A good number of non-leninist marxists do yes, although a fair number dont. As Marxism Leninism is the most popular form of socialism "most" socialists cant be against it.

And is the popularity of MLism chainging? Its becomming less popular in the west, and has decreased in popularity in eastern Europe.

And was it always so? It depends, before Lenin lived, obviously not. Post 1917 yes it has been true although in recent decades theres been considerable opposition to Leninism within Marxism.

Ummm, possibly, I'm not sure which mainstream Marxists Chomsky is referring to. I don't think people consider the revolution counter-revolutionary as much as they consider the taking of power away from the Soviets by the party to be counter-revolutionary.

And is the popularity of MLism chainging?

Possibly. It may be declining, ML groups continue to exist but non-Leninist Marxism is growing considerably.

The most popular form of communism, yes. Socialism is a pretty vague term and I would think that the democratic socialists are more popular than Marxist-Leninists.
