Very interesting. What do you think?

IMO based on what i have read about Moon its a big wastage. They could spend that money on Researching more about Mars.

will it not be a good trial and error practice for colonisation of other worlds? Humans have never attempted anything like this before.

Furthermore the moon is not made up of just one substance, there are plenty of minerals that could be mined for earth.

If we could just get rid of that bastard capitalism, it'd be in everyone's interest.

But thinking about it, the transport of those minerals (assuming they are of interest and use to us Earthlings) would be a royal pain the arse given our current level of technology vis a vi entering and exiting Earth't atmosphere. It'll require a massive amount of fuel just to get something that could bring the minerals back to Earth into space.

In terms of scientific, not to mention down-right coolness, merit, I'm in favour of it. However, I say fuck NASA and the Us government, sory of the damn problems with the earth atm and then we aca n concentrate on fuicking up other woerls.

I;m sorry , im pissed as wek type

I doubt the US will ever actually go through with this. NASA tends to make a lot of big plans. When was the last time NASA even sent men to the moon? The seventies. With the possible exception of other countries, it will be private companies who pioneer space exploration in this capitalist age.

I think they'll do it.

They've already got the plans to go back to the moon. The Space Shuttle is going to be retiring soon anyway.

Establishing a "moon base" is the first step on the long term goal of reaching mars.

Im usually very optimistic about alot of things..but this is something that pushes my optomism..so if it happens when they say it will..i will be shocked..

but otherwise..i think that would be pretty neat to have a lunar base...

Colonizing lifeless rocks, you mean? And when mining moons or asteroids someday becomes practical, it'll probably be robots that do it.

Nope, this is a huge waste of money. It's mostly for PR, for show. With a bit of potential military application somewhere in there.

The Pentagon says "space is the new ocean" and domination of space will let them retain their military dominance of Earth...space-based weapons and all that.

If we're going to imagine science-fiction scenarios, I'll give you one far more likely than colonizing other worlds: an entrenched elite in orbit or controlling orbital weapons, maintaining its domination by dropping guided rocks at high speeds and huge kinetic energies....

This will of course be an international moon base, not a US one.

Seems like a major waste of money and mostly likely won't be as major as the planners are thinking right now.

I think they will do it because other countries are quickly reaching their levels of "innovation" and could also begin making big space achievements soon.

But also, I hear NASA is working along with 17 other space agencies in order to achieve this task? Or 17 other organisations from different countries.

I think it is a waste of money but the capitalist won't donate their money out of generosity anyway, however they spend it the starving and poor won't benefit the capitalist always has a hidden agenda that suits their interest.

Sure, it'll be run by a "coalition of the willing."
