I'm doing a school project on graffiti and am interested to know where graffiti artists typically chose to express themselves

you do know off course that it's horribly illegal to spraypaint and/or vandalise other people's property and I'm sure this is a theoretical question. In that spirit I'll be answering too.

the best places are visible places, where you have very low chances of getting caught, like campusses.

yes if I were a graffiti artist I would put my work on things that move and on places where people generaly walked like a bike path <_<

Trains, especially in urban areas, you&#39;ll often find are covered in graffiti (or were until that stupid fuck Guliani had to destroy all the artwork). Alleyways are good places, subway tunnels, slanted rooftops, sound barriers next to freeways (if you&#39;re on the way into a major city), public bathrooms, billboards, inside of airplane cargo holds (if you ever manage to get into one of those you&#39;ll see that they are in fact covered in graffiti), street signs, buildings next to sidewalks, you get the picture....

Id advise you read my guide to graffitti (http://riotersblock.blogspot.com/2006/06/graffitying-one-of-greatest-advantages.html) first, to enrich your school project with secondary sources written by a theoretician. It might keep somone out of trouble.

As locations id advise highly unusual places like on top of buildings on the back of cop cars (easier than it sounds, just be VERY quick about it) the main thing being to try to find a maximum visibility, with a minimum risk to you. Sometimes riskier places are very attractive. In these cases a person might want to stake the place out for a couple of nights before going in, to make sure no one is around and you can work in peace. Also if theres any climbing involved you could get a good idea of foot/ hand holds any dangerous bits etc etc.

When it comes to places, it depends on if you&#39;re doin&#39; it for propaganda or as a piece of artwork.
