This is a really good film I reccomend it highly. It folllows a regular peasant during the GLF who becomes the leader of his people's commune. He than is promoted to principle of a newly created Peasant college. It can be found on YouTube, split into 12 parts. Here are the First 6.

Google video is better for big films, you don't have to divide them.

Obviously.

Anyways, I remember Red Heretic recommended to me a while back. The main character is actually a pretty famous Chinese actor back then.

I especially like the hand exam part. :P

...yeaaaah.

What exactly ISN'T propaganda?

The point is to look at it, and determine whether it is correct or not.

I loved it! even though i was very stoned when i saw it a while ago, i still was able to get the message. Very brilliantly it explained dialectism and the fact that theory is not to be seperated from practice, very understandable for beginners and people ignorant of revolutionary theory :).

One thing bugged me though, the professors had this unlimited energetic supply of happyness and positivism, it freak me out a bit :P.

I also loved the revolutionary song on the raft with the gay looking sporty chinese dude in that awsome red sleeveless shirt and the proletarian teen-mother student.

I don't think he ment it in a homophobic sense, though it depends on how hostile someone says it.

I mean, come on, I think it would be safe to say if I wore pink panties I would look "gay".

It's when you start using the term interchangeably with negative tones it becomes homophobic IMO.

true, but there are plenty of gay people who wear regular clothing and don't adhere to the odd stereotype that gay people all dress like woman or w/e. In this case if he's mentioning the scene I think he is, that word could go either way and could be either negative or positive so i dunno.
