What do you all know about the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism? How is the CCDS organized? Does a revolutionary tendency exist within the organisation? If not, is there a revolutionary equivalent of the CCDS?

From what little I know about them, I know them to be a reformist socialist group. I met a few of them this summer at the Midwest Social Forum. I think they are related to the Socialist Party somehow, some sort of split, I believe.

The Committees of Correspondence broke away from the Communist Party usa sometime in the early nineties, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. They objected to the CP's traditional, anti-democratic internal structure and to some of its bullshit politics -- like its line, or lack thereof, on the oppression of queers.

Like the CP, they're just another lame, reformist, liberal organization. I think that they are on the steering committee of one of the main antiwar "coalitions" in the usa, United for Peace and Justice.

My bad. Good call SPK. It's the CPUSA they broke away from, not the SPUSA.
