Have anybody heard of what happened on the 18th of may 1993 in Copenhagen, Denmark?
I don't expect you to do it, so let me tell you about it:
On the 18th of May 1993 the danish people voted whether they wanted to be more into the EU. Denmark was a already a member of EU, but had some reservations about it.
The people voted yes and that day the danish police shot and wounded against innocent civilians for the first time in peace time.
The left-wing of Denmark was in an outrage and in the part of Copenhagen called Northbrigde there was a demonstration. It grew larger every minute and the police were frightened that the situation was getting out of hand.
At a time the police took up the stones that the BZ-unit had threwn at them and threw it back at the BZ-unit.
A wall of police men gathered and they lost control. Most police men charged the people and several people got injured from the punches from the officers. A voice cried: "Shot!".
It was cried several times and at once the officers obeyed. In a 1½ minute it was only warning shots.
113 shots was fired against the fleeing crowd. Some got away but a few got trapped in a backyard and beated severely by the police.
The demonstrating people weren't really peaceful or anything. 24 police officers were severely injured and around 115 police officers were little less injured.
11 young people was injured. Three of them in the stomach, another in the jaw (near the artery). The rest in the arm, shoulder, back or legs.
It was a luck that noone died.
