What are the differences between Free Trade and Fair Trade? Many people on the Left seem like Fair Trade over Free Trade as, how I understand it, it calls for things like better treatment of workers and that sort of thing. So my question is: Is Fair Trade really better than Free Trade? Or are there really not much differences between them?

Fair trade means that the workers get paid a fair amount for the services provided.

"fair" as in a tiny bit less exploitative, but still exploitative enough to make a good profit.

Yes, fair trade is better than free trade as it provides for a much greater amount of equity and security among the more marginalized elements. Free trade on the other hand is an idealistic concept that simply results in the domination of more competitive and more developed markets thus causing greater inequality among nations.
