Happy Victory Day, comrades! - 9th of May 1945 - a day to be

Today we celebrate the great Soviet victory over the greatest evil in the history of Mankind. This day, in 1945, the scattered and humiliated remnants of the 3rd Reich finally surrendered, after the Red Army had taken Berlin in one final glorious battle, and raised the red flag over the Reichstag. The nazi reign of terror finally came to an end, and freedom triumphed over slavery.

Let us also remember and honour our 30 million comrades who died in the great war against the nazi butchers. Their sacrifice has saved us all.

I was awoken yesterday by the words of the Soviet National Anthem. The Russian army was singing, but with slightly edited lyrics as put foward by Vladimir Putin, like the bit where Stalin added his name. It was good, just like a scaled down good-ol' Red Amry parade; you could see they were all loving it.

Long may our comrades who died live, may those Nazi's burn in hell for eternity.
