Pat Robertson packed a soccer stadium in Lima Peru in which he preached the gospel and words of the lord and all that stuff. with help of a translater! afterwards he walked around Lima and spoke to homeless people who are drug addicted and converted them into christianity and made them accept jesus as their savior and the lord into their heart!?!?

Then he proceeded to give out toys and food and medicine to impoverished people living in the Slums. Pat Robertson praised Peru's president and their congress for being devoted loving Christians and Evangelicals.

what you guys think of this circus? It's depressing that these poor peruvians have hope in this moron.

How sick.

This raises the question: who has done more the poor in their lifetime: Pat Robertson or the posters on RevLeft?

it's a nice gesture. but is just more crumbs off the table. when he leaves peru. peopel will still be poor, and people will still be addicted to drugs. Its cute and hopeful for the news cameras.

Unless, of course, they take his advice and stay away from drugs.

Please note that I am not a fan of Mr. Robertson.

Still, I ask the question: what does more for the poor? Preaching a Christian lifestyle and donating money and supplies, or ranting and raving on a website?

I see your point. but "ranting" and "raving" on a website doesn't take away from Pat Robertson doing his thing. Im not taking medicine and food out of no ones mouth, by "ranting" on a website.

But I been face to face with that poverty in mexico. and I been face to face with preachers, and Catholism/Christianity and all that.

It's not the answer and is not the way out. yes.. Jesus loves you. but at the end of the day your stomach still hurts cus you haven't ate. and you shooting up and sniffing glue. cus it hurts.

all I'm trying to point out is that these people pack stadiums to hear the word of the lord and they are giving this fake hope that's only spirutal. thats nice and all but their harsh reality is and will be the same with par robertson there and when he leaves.

You do make a good point, but the quote below sums up my position.

Martin Luther King
True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.

They should be passing out guns. Why doesn't someone ever think of that?
