There's a reason for the 50 rounds. NYPD has a rule that once the police have shot someone they must continue shooting the person until their guns are empty. This was documented during the February 2000 trial of the four cops who shot Amadou Diallo 41 times.

The details concerning the reasons for the shooting still seem pretty sketchy but right now it looks like the victims got caught up in the middle of a sting operation and were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Probably not. Some off-duty pigs beat the living fuck out of a guy for no reason in my state awhile back. They all walked, and there were some protests but (no doubt with some help from "community leaders" <_< ) riots didn&#39;t break out. It could happen though, I know Benton Harbor has had some flare-ups.

Funny side note... one of the acquitted cops mentioned above was later kicked off the force for illegally buying submachine-guns, and he then called in bomb threats to the police station. :lol:

The 4 officers who killed Amadou Diallo, an unarmed immigrant who was pulling out a wallet, in 1999 walked. In 2003, an officer was charged with criminally negligent homicide in the killing of another unarmed immigrant, Ousmane Zongo, but was acquitted of the more serious charge of second-degree murder. No riots occured in either instances though there was heated controversy.

In this case, it has been reported that the victims actually hit an undercover officer and a police van with their car in which case they may just walk.

I see NYC&#39;s mayor, Micheal Bloomberg, is working flat out to &#39;repair community relations&#39;, in other words he is doing his best to make sure that the working class and poor of NYC don&#39;t do what they should do and cause mayhem. Again, the unelected and out of touch &#39;community leaders&#39; are there to tell the masses to not take matters into their own hands, but to have &#39;faith&#39; in the system.

Which means there was a 54% chance of killing innocent bystanders. I think this alone should qualify for recklessness. There was an over 50% chance of killing an innocent person and they did end up killing an innocent person... except they actually aimed at him.


EDIT:
An interesting thing to note is that many people are hoping the cops get sent to jail or executed. Does this mean you are all hoping the court system works? I say let the cops walk, then we can deal with them as we would post-revolution.

Apparently a union of 100 black cops have called for the commisioner&#39;s resignation on the issue. What they did was sick and they should recieve the full sentencing of the state - which wont happen.

The police reported that they were in the middle of a sting operation so it seems kind of a stretch.

Anyways, the news right now is that there may have been an arguement between Bell and another man which led undercover police to suspect that one of them had a gun. Of course, this still does not explain the volume of gunfire nor whether or not the undercover cops identified themselves (one of them says they did...).
