View Full Version : Expropriation of Government Wealth

Is defrauding a part of the capitalist government earmarked for the unemployed/ disabled an attack on those people or on the government? The money itself is replaceable from other areas paid for through tax, but is it ever acceptable to fund a cause through these methods, no matter how noble?
There are plenty of contently unemployed "armchair communists" who would agree so, I was just wondering everyone elses opinion on the subject.

Well seeing as the benefits given out to those who need them is never anywhere near enough, taking more than you are legally entitled to is not such a morally bad idea in my opinion. There is enough wealth in the country to make the benefits given out big enough but its not going to happen, so taking the money is an attack on the government.
Then again there is the argument that the government will only set aside a certain amount of money for everyone (don't you just love 'em <_< ) so by being a 'benefit cheat' it can be argued that you are taking the money from other people who need it. Of course that argument is not a nice one - the situation should not be like that, but we do have to face to our reality. In reality if you take more than you deserve other people will end up getting less, so you are effectively taking from the people.
I could not agree with taking benefits to fund a political cause, but if (as many people do) people take it because they don't have enough, I can't condemn them.
