In a few mins. im about to go outside and make a couple copies of FPM's "What Is Communism"

But since this going to be my first time releasing the leaflets, is it better to hand out or post them up in polls?

Reason why im asking is because i think if i hand them out some people would look at it like some fucking store advertisement and dump it in the nearest trash can.

Advice..thanks

There are pros and cons with both, so dont worry about the specifics.

If you are up for handing them out, then I reccomend doing that. Even better, why not post them door to door?

It really depends on where you're doing this. I would think that it would be best to post them or hand them out at various infoshops or "leftist hangouts" rather than just hand them out to random people on the street.

I posted alot of them up on the walls and hallways at my university, and within a couple of days they started taking them down
Every other night I would post em up, and in two days they were taken down
I kept on posting them and down they came, that was the routine for about 3 weeks
Until finally, I was accused of "stirring up militarism" in the school newspaper, and by then the school was on the lookout for a "communist agitator"
So I quit for the time being, I'll prolly start the routine all over again starting next year

But yeah, posting them is a good idea
I got alot of mixed reactions to handing them out

my dad told me about when he went to Spain to study for a year while Franco was still in power.
Some students went in to paint anti-franco slogans on the walls almost every night, and early in the morning the fascists did their rounds to paint large black squares over the letters, so hardly anyone saw them, but off course in due time the walls were covered in black squares wich was serious statement too!

To tell you the truth i dont know.
Because i wasnt up in a corner handing them out ,i was walking around fast, handing them out to people i felt deserved it (specificly the youngins)
So i was really like handing them out and kept walking.

With a hand out, some people are going to be throwing it away immediately. But with a Post up all it takes is one Republican stupid-ass fuckup to tear it down like it's the plague. Sorry, but those people annoy me.

I've never done handouts, though I would say something like "Support the Struggle," just to let them know that it's not an advertisement.

Well today when i was coming home i handed out 2 more because both where wearing Che shirts. I told them "read that my brother" they both said iight. So i gues hand outs are a bit better depending on who you hand it to.

Your making a grave error, preaching to the coverted. Young kids rocking a che shirt, they have (possibly) read somthing on che or communism, but the random person walking down the street is who deserves the pamphlet more, because they are the ones who only know the medias version.

Hmm...for a "What is Communism" I would go with hand-outs because its a read. In general for things of more brevity (call for a protest, etc) I would go with posting up on a wall in a high walking traffic area where lots of people will see em.

Flypostings really only advisable for advertising an event from my expirience, I think that you'd probably be better handing them out. Make sure you have a contact address on it or a website or some other way that people can follow up the leaflet if they liked it.

yeah, if you're leafleting for an event you can target the more 'leftwing looking' people, though there's a lot of people that are militant but don't look like it.
