Milton Friedman Dies. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6156098.stm)

The 'guru' of neo-liberalism and the main spokesperson of the 'Chicago School of Economics' is dead.

If there was any justice in the universe, that Pinochet-loving bastard would have been pushing up daisies 30 years ago.

Sadly that is not the case.

Also sad his death was without pain and in great comfort. But then again the ruling capitalist class made great efforts to see their ideological godfather spend his last days in the lap of luxury.

To make the best of a shitty situation, lets celebrate the fact that Friedman is now pushing up the daisies.

Hopefully his buddy/client, Pinochet will follow soon and in more agonising ways.

In other words, his marginal propensity to move has fallen by 1. On the other hand, his marginal propensity to rot has risen by 1. That is, there is a unitary relationship between his heart beating and decomposition.

What a shame.

We ought to open a new hall of shame shit list in chit-chat. I don't remember seeing him.
We're rid of Nozick, Reagan and now Friedman. We just hang on waiting for the hills of the north to sing, rejoice in Thatcher's death.

What was really funny was that when I opened my browser, it automatically goes to Google News. As always there were two top stories. One was Milton Friedman dying. They other was about the French Socialist Party nominating Royal as their nominee.

The fall of capitalism and the rise of socialism, eh?

The dissappointing part is that his ideas and theories will continue despite him due to his influence; let's hope we don't have any more major "free market radicals" like him.

well yah

if the french Parti Socialiste actually was more than watered down version of a watered down version of a social democrat, which in itself is a watered down version of any actual leftist

anyway

HURRAY!
may his ideas decompose as quickly as his body!

I believe it's our job to debunk his ideas.

And although his ideas have harmed countless billions, he didn't do it himself, so I think we should not necessarily mourn, but to celebrate? Maybe Reagan, but the man didn't order around people himself (to the best of my knowledge)

When we bury his ideas with his corpse I shall truly rejoice.

Does anyone else find it ironic that he died of heart failure? I didn't realize the bastard actually had a heart...

Anyway, thank goodness for the pig's death. If I believed in hell, I'd hope he was rotting there right now.

Milton Friedman, fuck you.

Good riddance.

Also, the corporate media's fawning tribute to this monster makes me want to vomit. It's like Reagan's death all over again.

I disagree very much with Milton Friedman, but I don't think we should celebrate over anyone's death like that. I dunno, maybe I"m too nice..

But anyway, how would you guys respond to this: Friedman said that "oh the communists always protested against me, but once I went to China, the protests stopped."

 Did he believe himself when he said that? If so then not only was he wrong, he was a sad delusional little man.

(Then again that's what I think when I see most things he's said/written).

Professor Friedman held that there was a natural rate of unemployment and that attempts to bring it below that level by stimulating demand caused only an ephemeral reduction and added permanently to prices.

Sick, a permanent supply of unnemployed workers to benefit the whole?... friedman was the obvious ugly face of capitalism, literaly.. His death is only un symbolic occurance to truimph over, his capital and his fat pension will sureley stay in circulation in bourgeois circles. Oh well, one less face to stuff itself

Yes, the idea he set in motion should be our main focus of opposition.

However, we are not robots that cannot feel or have emotions or opinions when someone snuffs it.

The guy is better dead and I'm happy that he is not around to spew his crap 'theories' anymore.

Friedman was closely linked to General Pinochet's dictatorship in Chile, even visiting Pinochet in Chile in 1975 to assist him in Chile's rape by corporate bandits and global capitalism. Friedman was many things, but not stupid.

He knew his ideas were needed by the ruling class and he also knew about the terror and massive campaign of death and torture in Chile in the 1970s. The fact that Friedman supported Pinochet, yet knew of what was being done in Chile makes him worthy of death, that is beyond debate.

I dunno, maybe I"m too nice.

Yes you are. :P

But hopefully your just young and will soon learn why pacifism is a farce, even if it's a nice idea in some mythical utopia.

But life ain't perfect and we have to fight back or be crushed, there is no middle ground in the class struggle.

No, you're too uninformed.

Freidman worked with the Pinochet government in Chile. He didn't just sit around and justify it, like a lot of americans...he actually worked with and participated in it. Milton Friedman was an active supporter of Pinochet and fascism in Chile.

If the death of a bourgeois supporter of fascism is not worth celebrating, I do not know what is. Friedman is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Chileans, it's unfortunate that the people didn't get to him before the old age.

- Yeah, if he rises un-dead, you drive a stake through his heart.

- But he didn't have one.

- So you drive a stake through his brain.

- You mean his DICK? :P

- Pretty much. :D

<_< Deaths of "Hundreds of thousands of Chileans"?

From what I hear 3,000 died under Pinochet not "hundreds of thousands"

3.000 is the number of official executions, not the number of actual deaths.

in any case

talk about irrelevant
