It depends on your definition.

The Redskins certainly had a lot of soul in their music, the Adjusters had a fair amount too, both were leftist.

The band split after their 3rd album 'Otis Redding Will Save America'. But I had a message off the singer the other week to say that the band might look at doing something together again in the near future.

I've never really encountered any leftist soul music though many soul singers were supporters of the Civil Rights movement which I suppose puts them in that category. Sam Cooke is one musician that comes to mind.

Also, concerning soul, I'm kinda surprised that nobody has made a thread on James Brown's death.
