I know many of you detest MySpace and Bebo.

That said, I have a bebo account, and I was browsing random pages on their today, and their is an enormous amount of christian sentiment on there.

I was thinking, why not use these websites for their obvious popularity? I have made a trial run, promoting very mild secular humanism, to see what success I have.

This is the first time I've ever heard of Bebo.

Oh, and those kids who posted on your page are really dumb. Like, really dumb.

Well so far it's gone down like a sack of shit.

Perhaps scrap this idea. I can't even get secular fucking humanism across.

PaintTheSilence - Shush, or you don't get your word. :o

Breadbros - I know. I must have the patience of a saint...

tekun - it doesn't actually float my boat, I just thought I'd offer a sweet sounding, innocent alternative on there, instead of going straight in for, I dunno, dictatorship of the proletariat or something. lol.

The communist youth here is already doing that on a website similar to Myspace. It's working out great.

It's definatley had alot of... attention.

I do have one question though, why promote humanism when you're a communist?

Why not promote humanism? I don't really know anything about it but from reading what BurnTheOliveTree wrote, its the belif in thinking for yourself, Deciding whats right and wrong for yourself. If its just that simple, then I can completely agree with secular humanism.

And as a communist, we must all think for ourselves. I believe that too many people, not neccessarily anyone particular here, look to Che, Stalin, Mao, Trotsky, Marx, and whoever the revolutionary may be, and devote themselves to believes in one persons idealogy. But I think its just looking at the persons beiefs, their mistakes, and then comparing them with others and figuring out for yourself what you should believe. Nice blog OliveTree. Not a bad idea trying to help religious people think for themselves since many do not.

Yeah, what Chucky said.

My bebo is deliberately made to be very soft and gentle. If I immediately went in with "Bash the rich, no war but class war, bathe in the blood of our masters" stuff, I would just scare people away. If I can get secular humanism some recognition, or even shift some of the religious a bit, I'll be happy, and maybe I'll have a go at a proper commie bebo.

I think you can get plenty of people to give Secular Humanism recognition, but its rather impossible, in my opinion, to do so with religious groups. I don't know why it is, but at many times it seems impossible to convince christians that maybe some of their idealogy, or just the bible, is false. Reading the comments in your profile just seem to confirm this. For example, these people who keep bringing excerpts from the bible. I just don't understand how a person can read a text over thousands of years old and which contradicts itself still believe that it is a valid source. The bible was written by man, and no matter what it says that god said, it was still written by man.

I believe they are just afraid of letting go of a false hope. I personally believe there must be some higher being but I do not believe the folk tales of the bible and such, so I try and and figure it out on my own. I think in order for you to convince them, find texts in the bible that contradicts their statements.
