Under the presidency of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, 64 leaders, members, organisers and supporters of trade unions and informal workers organisations have been killed from 20 January, 2001 until June 30, 2006.
More than 982 cases of trade union and human rights violations victimizing 77,028 workers were recorded. Aside from killings, other violations include assault in the picket line, illegal arrest and detention, grave threat, intimidation, abduction and harassment.
We condemn this repression by the state and its agents.
