Resurgence -Sustainable Queer Communities
A workshop day and party

A Queeruption Sydney collective is currently in the process
of organising a workshop day and party intended to occur during the
Mardi Gras festival. The date for the event is February 17th 2007.
The workshop day will be structured around the theme of Sustainable
Queer Communities. We'd like to invite all of you to come along,
participate and also if you'd like to, to present a workshop,
presentation, or performance.

We'd like people to present workshops, or open discussions around
topics like (to give a few possible examples):

• Sexual racism/racism/ misogyny/ sexism/ableism/ discrimination
in LGBTQ communities and events

• Queer community- Does it exist? What is it? What ought it to
be?

• Relationship diversity

• Open relationships and polyamory

• BDSM and queer politics

• The relationships/ differences between gay, lesbian, trans,
bi and queer identity, politics and culture.

• Queer politics and anti-capitalist struggles

• Queer politics and aesthetics

• Queer politics and class

• Fun workshops like **** quilt making, body/face painting,
queer puppetry, DIY sex toys, or whatever other fun stuff comes to
mind.

Workshops will allow those present both to share ideas, skills and
personal experiences and hopefully also to come up with a few
practical ideas for the further development of queer communities,
spaces and practices both in Sydney and globally.
If you'd like to present a workshop (we hope you do!) then you need
to write a paragraph describing what you have in mind, so that a
list of workshops with brief descriptions can be put onto the web
prior to the event. For further guidelines for presenters see
www.myspace.com/resurgencesyd

On the day vegan/vegetarian food will be provided, however in
keeping with the DIY ethos of all Queeruption events so far, we hope
that you'll feel free to help out cooking, cleaning up, or whatever
else needs to be done. This also applies to the day in general. If
it looks like people need some help, then feel free to offer a hand.
If you're not sure what DIY means see http://www.queeruption.org/sydney/index.html

After talking, strategizing, networking and having fun during the
day, we hope you'll also come along to the party afterwards.
There'll be queer hip hop, spoken word, d.j.s and other
performances. If you'd like to perform feel free to contact us at
