His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message to President George Bush

12 September, 2001
Your Excellency,
I am deeply shocked by the terrorist attacks that took place involving four apparently hijacked aircrafts and the immense devastation these caused. It is a terrible tragedy that so many innocent lives have been lost and it seems unbelievable that anyone would choose to target the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. We are deeply saddened. On behalf of the Tibetan people, I would like to convey our deepest condolence and solidarity with the American people during this painful time. Our prayers go out to the many who have lost their lives, those who have been injured and the many more who have been traumatized by this senseless act of violence. I am attending a special prayer for the United States and its people at our main temple today.
I am confident that the United States as a great and powerful nation will be able to overcome this present tragedy. The American people have shown their resilience, courage and determination when faced with such difficult and sad situations.
It may seem presumptuous on my part, but I personally believe we need to think seriously whether a violent action is the right thing to do and in the greater interest of the nation and people in the long run. I believe violence will only increase the cycle of violence. But how do we deal with hatred and anger, which are often the root causes of such senseless violence? This is a very difficult question, especially when it concerns a nation and we have certain fixed conceptions of how to deal with such attacks. I am sure that you will make the right decision.
With my prayers and good wishes,
The Dalai Lama
Dharamsala, India

At least one of them has the sense to comprehend that violence will beget violence.

The Anarchist:

Your posts seem to become more and more nasty every day.

If this thread was unable to hold your wavering attention span, than fine, go do something else... you don't have to post it here.

"His holiness" is the fucking guy's title. Not that I would ever use it, however it is not the major focus of the letter posted by RedCanada.

Go polish your hammer and sickle.

Yes i am radicalizing my ideologys and actions every day if thas what you mean...

i yet dont think that is credible when come from a non elected leader of a theocrat state such as Tibet... this is before the chinese ocupation now its just a province of the capitalist china but thats another afair...

it is very simple..
Budhism is mainly one of the origins of the dialects..
i respect it for that..
yet budhism as a religiona sn as a political institution lost its interess and fairness a century ago when the tibetians started to pactuate with nationalists and lost theyr open minded policys...

this is the fucking XXI Century we cannot acept fundamentalist goverments in minor asia, why should we see the rise of Dalai Lama´s to power in Tibete, therefore starting a theocrat state?

nonononon my friends theocracy is a thing form the past and it muyst be fought...
religion shouldnt be mixed with politics..
or have you forgot the past?

the Dalai may be a smart guy...
yes i reconize that...
yet he is still a son of a ***** dictator that wants to replace the current pseudo-socialist goverment in tibet for a theocratic state...

wich leaves me no option but the insult...

Ps: i do however reconize i was a moron by only stating that in the previous post...
yet that is what i trully feel about him and that i shall not change...

No I mean you sound like an asshole. And I don't consider a shift from Anarchism to Soviet athoriterian rule "Radicalizing" ... Anarchy is 1) much more active in the real world than silly little communists who only get together to print newspapers..2) The abolishion of "State" that goes along with Anarchism is much to radical of a notion for Marxist-Leninists who only seek to replace on set or rulers with another.

As for the letter... I don't give a shit if it's coming from the Dixie Chix, Michael Jackson, or my brother. Elected officials aren't any better than anyone else.

Uh...cool letter though. The Dalai Lama seems like a cool guy, and I personally would prefer him ruling my country to Bush ruling my country.

ok good luck on yout litle anarchist utopia...
jsut dont forget that without a proletarians state you cannot achieve what you want...
freedom comes with education, and you cannot offer total freedom to ignorant mobs... you first need to instruct and teach... and then liberalize.....

Anarchist,

Open your fucking mind fool. There are better ways to organize than through the state.

this is jsut pathetic...

even in the best demonstration of anarcho-syndicalism wich was in spain before the civil war there was a state... a republic that was later attacked by the fascist hordes of Franco...
even the best society need a state to defend them....

it is not about serving the state.. its perverting the state and change it in all aspects turning it into a workers state..

anarchy is achieved through a peoples state...

or you fools thing you can achieve anarchy overnight?
no it is foolish and irracional to think that..
before anarchy (aka final stage of communism) comes socialism, before being destroyed the state needs to be changed to suit the needs and desires of the working class..

however if you want to creat a anarchy were armed thugs will have more power than kings then good luck... knowing that what you will be achieving is some unbderrated primitive communism, same primitive communism from wich feudalism and sclavangist societys grew....

honestly good luck on your litle utopy...
smash the state right away dont bother creating a workers state.... why bother?

here you clearly read the imidiate abolish of the state...

Open your fucking mind fool. There are better ways to organize than through the state.

even in the primitive soviet system, wich was the union of the proletariats, peasents and soldiers you had a state... this before the comming of your much hated bolcheviks...

you need a state to achive anarchy...
and denying it is just stupid..

like saying all that and then claim you never mean to achive it overnight...

This topic seems to have diverted course, mostly because of my off handed remarks. I¡¯m sorry about that RedCanada.

The letter was interesting but the conversation has turned hostile so I¡¯m locking the thread. I didn¡¯t mean for it to become a debate about political theory.

In closing, I would recommend ¡°the anarchist¡± to read Individual Liberty by Benjamin R. Tucker to see what how anarchists view the state.

If you want to continue this topic that is fine with me, and I will be more than willing to reply to a thread you start in the topic in Theory.

Thankx.:::: RC.
