Which is more important? I would be interesting in hearing the stances on this issue from forummers of various ideologies.

Intolerance is not to be tolerated. Pure, virulent and ignorant hatred is not free speech. Furthermore, even if you believe that one is "free" to spew hatred, you must also believe that others are "free" to fully oppose them (and minimalize them).

Freedom from racism is far more important that freedom of speech. People are entitled to walk down the street without running the risk of being verbally or physically abused by some thick-skulled racist. Of course, the same applies to all inalienable characteristics.

i'd say that theyre both equally important. But with freedom of speech comes the people who preach racism. As Makaveli said, people should be entitled to walk down the street without anyone screaming ignorant, racist shit at them, but as a person who is against censorship, as much as i disagree with their bone headed ideology, it is something we have to live with.

Racism is more about deeds and not words. We should be careful about cheering on governments that wish to censor racist views because the same logic can easily be used to censor those on the far left as well.
