What about Daniel Ortega?

I see no other explanation for the fact that the Church just led a protest that resulted in the Nicaraguan government's extending the country's draconian abortion ban to include therapeutic abortions, abortion intended to save the lives of women who will likely not survive carrying the fetus to term.

And you know what, comrades?

That reactionary fuck Daniel Ortega and his ultramontanist Sandinista buddies supported the extension.

Ortega is more reactionary than Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, or Paul Martin, and all discussion promoting or defending Ortega ought to be relegated to opposing ideologies.

I don't anyone really needs more evidence of the misogynist bent of the Roman Catholic Church.

I do think that after the revolution the incumbent Pope should be made to wear a badge saying "I Love Feminists" 24 hours a day.

or maybe put in a room filled with people his teachings have caused to become infected with HIV, and lots and lots of wooden clubs?

and to answer the question: why else do you think they burned so many "witches" in the middle ages?

Ortega is a fucking sell out and should be beaten... as for the catholic church no no they and all other religions dont take pleasure in the death of women they take pleasure in the death of both sexes. Look at africa and those places "no condoms because the religious leaders are against it, lets all spread aids to our partners" fucking idiots the religions and there leaders.

While selling condoms on a market. Make him groom a cockney accent and say: "JOHNNIES! I GOT JOHNNIES! 5 DIFFERENT COLOURS! i GOT BANANA! 'ELLO, DAWLIN!"

After this action I doubt that anyone here would support Ortega and his party of Sandinistas (though u never know with those social democrats roaming around)...if anything the Sandinistas are becoming more like Bachelet than like Chavez, whom many were expecting

However, I doubt he does this out of personal conviction
But rather because he realizes that if he alienates, opposes, or rejects the support of the Church, the 73% of Catholics in Nicaragua will definitely have second thoughts when voting for him
If anything it shows his desperation to attain power
The fact that he is willing to sell out a good amount of ppl who support abortion rights in Nicaragua, shows that he's becoming a "religious" social democrat
Im amused at how some ppl still accuse him of being a communist

More the reason to not vote and to abolish religious institutions

The Sandinista Renewal Moment -- while technically being more social democratic and rightist than the Sandinistas proper -- does support a woman's right to choice.

Incidentally, Bachelet -- unlike Ortega -- is pro-woman and pro-LGBT.

I have certain ties with catholicism that i have decided to ignore through the years, part of the reason was because of the way that they treated women. I don't now if they take pleasure in womens deaths. Of course a few could, people have different opinions after all - but on a hole i can't say about them all. I do think it is wrong that they can't have protective sex, consedering how much of a growing problem hiv and the likes that are going about. Also not allowing women to have abortions even though it could kill them if they do carry the baby to full term - that is wrong in my views. What good is it going to do if the lady dies, the lightlyhood is the child will die as well. As for the burning of witches that was pointed out, that was just simply because they thought women were the weaker sex and thus were more likely to be tempted to satins side. The fact that women were always considered the weaker sex and as such they should be kept "tied to the kitchen sink" and under the constant thumb of men, i am not sure if this is still how the majority of catholic think or not - but at one point a lot of women were put to their deaths on the most flimsest of reasons.

The catholic church does love death, they love martyrs and a dead woman going to 'heaven' is definately preferable in their minds to one disobeying their temporal authority lol.

That doesn't mean they love death, that means they love women obeying their temporal authority.

Oh no, the Catholic Church most certainly does not love death! Dead people do not suffer, and what the Catholic Church really love is suffering.

She might support women's rights, but she's a closet capitalist
They same could be said about Hillary

Well, you could use the "afterlife" as an excuse to kill and not to worry about people dying. However, I wonder why, for example, christians cry when a loved one dies...shouldn't they make a party or something?

Anyway, that's off the thread's point. So yes, it's normal for people all over Latin America to be religious, ignorant and be "socialists" who sometimes accept religious dogma to such an extent at the same time.
