Black Gold - documentary about how Ethiopian farmers are royally fucked-over by multinational coffee-processors and distributors. Despite every attempt at success in global capitalism, the capitalists win. Of course. Despite their back-breaking work, high-quality product, and absolute necessity for more just markets, they're stuck in poverty at the expense of profits. Made me shed a tear. Tell anyone and I'll stab you.

Lettere dal Sahara - directed by fucking Vittorio De Setta (Banditi a Orgosolo). Deals with racism and the strife of African immigrants in Europe. As well as the cultural polemic of emigration and the Western oppression of African-descendents.

Also try 'Senzeni-Na?' (What Have We Done?, the recent one. There's an older film with the same title, but I'm not sure what it's about...) about the life and death of student activist Tsietsi Mashinini and the Soweto uprising of 1976.

The title comes from a protest song.
