Thought he EZLN used to be a relevant revolutiojnary group, through their inaction at certain crucial times in Mexican History, as well as the action of the Fedaral government against them has anihilated and renedered null and void their scope and strength of action.

I really believe the EZLN has the power to over throw Mexico and restore order and give the famished people of Mexico a chance at a better life. Lately it Really seems they have been active but they are also not engaged in one of the more controversial events in mexico (oxaca) up until recently, But My opinion on them is 100% good for the people.

Well there is but they aren't as active as they were and they are out of the mainstream.
Watsonville Brown Berets (http://www.brownberets.info/news/)

The Black Panther Party (http://www.blackpanther.org/)

Both groups are kind of unactive but they were once something great. We need some kind of activism spark started in America. I really hope I can start something in my area and get people more politically aware in the coming years.

ok i've heard of both groups, actually in my area(559) a few of us are going to start a brown berets chapter(aside from the old brown berets view we are making it open to anyone sharing the same cause) because it is extreamly needed. we have a great meeting place where speeches, lectures, events, community work(food not bombs, and others), and shows are held, it's called C.A.F.E Fresno(http://www.cafefresno.org). anyway, i know such organizations exist but the problem is that anything the government can define as a "threat" they will shut down so basicly none are compared to the EZLN who are able to fight and thats whats so inspirational about them to me. I think thats what we need in America is more people willing to fight and stand up, we can talk about doing it but will we when the time comes? thats the thing.

oh yea for real. I know where your coming from. Its just its hard to get people politcally aware. It really is. Or at least with people my own age group because really, people are more worried about(and this is more or less 17-18 year old guys I have talked to,) cars, money, pussy and shit like that. But yea, thats great! I hope your succesful in your attempts in recruiting people. I believe that if people feel that they are apart of something great, they will want to join. And making yourself politically spoken against the government, in my opinion, advocates more people to join.

yeah well, it depends who you talk to. some people see it as if you push any ideologoy(for good or bad) on anyone it's just brainwashing. that is why you have to make good points to the people you're trying to have understand the situations caused by the bad and how there are ways to straight them out. it all comes down to that person in the end, their choice will make a big difference. and i know alot of today's peers aren't very active/knowledged in politics, its very sad, yet there's a fair amount who are. but keep the fight going, who cares if you can't convince anyone, if you tried then thats all that matters.

personally the ezln are troublemakers, and to me terrorists (though i understand why many people like them and are in fact liberators).

people like what benefits them the most. the ezln has hurt my family, and would devistate many people i know if they were to succeed. i really doubt mexico would be any better off either way.

and to me terrorists

Would you please explain to me what actions the EZLN has taken that can be considered "terrorist" actions.

well i do suppose the fight's they've had with the mexican army couldn't really be considered terrorism... and i know they're supposedly peaceful now...

just the whole armed rebel thing is rather odd....

armed rebellion is nothing new, especially in the face of government oppression.

how is ETA bad? they use violence as a means to seek revolutionary change, something most people dont have the balls to do. maybe if more people in the US were willing to make the leap to violent action things would finally start to change. Yes, ETA uses carbombs and assassination, but they seek their independence.

If your going to do something, at least do it right.

WORD!!!!

I condemn ETA with all my heart and soul! They are terrible people and terroists, they get nothing done and nothing accomplished. Terrorist actions cannot make you independent, it can only give the big daddy capitalists more excuses to ATTACK and REPRESS and HURT us!!!!!!! :( :(

The ETA are barely more than terrorist bandits. They are almost as bad as the cappies.

i admit innocents get hurt, but random acts of violence are hard to get "right". maybe if they instituted a policy of sniping officals instead of blowing them and their entourage and any bystanders near by. can anyone not recognize that at least they are willing to seek change through violent means?

I'm not discounting violence as a means to an end.

However killing those who you are trying to liberate is a bit counter-intuitive.

Okay. Just hate it when people say "America" when they mean that country above Mexico and below Canada.

Not to get on your nerves, but Mexico is also the states. Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

haha alright, would USA be more reasonable? I guess I understand what youre saying since not all of the members on here are from the USA. It can get confusing.

The EZLN should be an inspiration to us all. They are practical above all, yet proud and full ideals and zeal. They follow no specific ideology, yet draw on many -- excellent.
