:o blasphemer!!
EDIt: do you know that feeling, you're at a party that's not too great, just sitting at the side with a beer in your hand when all of a sudden you hear the speakers going: "Dumdudududum Killing in the name of!!!"?
The emotion you feel then is undiscribable

No, because at that point they have usually just stopped playing good music.

there alright i suppose. Tom Morello and his wah wah pedal in every fucking song gets annoying though.
And i aint too big on the political lyrics. I see enough politics on the news. But nonetheless there pretty alright.

I love RATM, used to bump them non-stop for years, and like others they helped me get into politics. I've heard them so much they've kind of gotten played out in my own mind, but I still like to listen every so often and they'll always be one of my favorite bands.

Without Rage Against the Machine I would be just another zombie trying to survive as a proletariat my whole life, never knowing ther was any other choice. I wouldn't be on this site, i wouldn't be an anarchist, i'd just be another average teenager, playing video games all day in my basement drinking soda pop. instead now i'm going to protests and putting up fliers around my school, so anyone who disrespects RATM needs to take a closer look at their messages

Rage Against the Machine is one of my favorite bands ever. The first political band I ever listened to and I even listened to them before I became a leftist and yes, I enjoyed their music even then. Now that I have become on, their songs are so much more meaningful and powerful. No one should idolize the individuals in the band of course, I don't think even they would want it, but they are one of the best "mainstream" rock bands out there.
I frankly wish they would come back and Morello and company would leave the Audioslave band and go back to making political music.

You've gotta be kidding me. You "get enough politics on the news"? This is idiotic; on the "news" meaning mainstream corporate "news" you get a certain kind: bourgeois news, anti-worker, anti-socialist anti-revolutionary.
Any medium which counters the bourgeois media from a leftist point of view is not only necessary but absolutely needed. And with all this , to be blunt and honest, stupid fluff and nonsense passing off as "music" in the mainstream today (Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Jesse McCartney, Aaron Carter, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Hicks, etc etc etc) with any notion of politics and struggle being so far removed them, a truly political band with a revolutionary message is certainly needed.
Or do we need to hear yet another "creative" song about how a guy or girl broke up/lost/wants to be with/can't get another guy or girl?

I'm the same, rage played a big part in my political awakening. I still listen to their music ever so often, its still good and still angries up the blood. Their music is unique, provactive and just plain good.

I think Zack is doing protests around the world. They are one of the most influential bands in the history of music. They deserve the respect that they have gained in the revolutionary circles of modern society. That mkes them one of my favorite bands.

What a surprise, an RATM thread.
I suppose its to be expected with them being so influential to young guys - they brought me here, and probably half this site's members I think, so I guess they must be pretty good in that respect.
Musically though I don't listen to them anymore (still got that poster on my wall though) I'm not really interested in listening to their politics anymore - I'm much more into my metal now.
Worryingly I'm actually listening to Burzum right now, pretty much the exact political opposite to ratm....
