Greetings! My name is Tom (A.K.A. Pallawish: Don't ask me why because I can't remember) I live in Sydney, Australia, I am fascinated in any political theory which can be classified as Leftist, I am 16 years old.

My political ideology is always bouncing around. I started off as a somewhat Social Democrat. Although, Social Democrat's in Australia are represented the the Labor Party, and believe me, they aint something to be proud of. So I have been moving more and more towards the left.

I admire Marx and Lenin, but I found Lenin a tad too Authoritarian for my tastes to become a Leninist, however I still believe him a great person for organising and being a part of such a brilliant revolution which Stalin destroyed later.

I believe in I dislike the idea of a dictatorship of the Proleteriat because mainly, I do not have enough faith in my fellow man to believe that they will keep it democratic, I believe it will end up deteriorating into the Red Bureaucracy of the USSR, China etc..

Anyone here heard of the 'Social Revolutionary Party' of Russia? They were about during the first revolution up to the October Revolution. I know most of you would think of them as 'traitors' or something of the sort because of them joining the Provisional Government and wanting to continue the war, but up till the very end (even after the october revolution) they had 51% of the entire vote of the country.

I could be either described as a Left-Social Revolutionary who would have opposed the war or a Democratic Socialist, My ideals fluctuate between the two. Lets say I am a Democratic Left-Social Revolutionary. :D

Anywayz.. Hello! I'll be active on the forums and I am wondering if any of you know and Socialist Parties in Australia? I'm thinking of joining the Socialist Alliance.. but they have the policy of a full withdrawl from Iraq immediately, and that is just NOT ON, we invaded (WHICH WAS COMPLETELY NOT ACCEPTABLE) but we can't just withdrawl now, that would leave the country in utter chaos.. or hehe.. should I say anarchy? jokes.. jokes..
What part of sydney? Anyways hope you stick around and contribute to arguments.

People can stay as long as they want, LoneRed. So long as they are not fascists or other scum. Simply being a 'Social Democrat' does not mean shit around here, 'cept probably won't be let into the CC (or whatever it is called now 'days).

I came here as a right leaning Liberal. I'm currently hovering around revolutionary Eco-Socialist, post-left Anarchist.

Have faith in your fellow comrades LoneRed. I'm sure he will come around.

Anyway, welcome.

Hey Pallawish,

welcome to the board! Would've said hello earlier, but as AM insinuates, yes, Resistance do so much. I'm in the Inner West as well, so we should catch up.

True, the Socialist Alliance has a position of "troops out", but it doesn't mean that they are all Leninist (which I and many of the affilliates are, by the way). There are plenty of revolutionaries - of different types - in the SA, but there are others as well, and we are trying to construct a new broad left party instead of the ALP, which means even progressive reformists are welcome. The key criteria at the moment are willingness to join and identify with socialist politics, and to get active and involved in the campaigns to build the fight back against capitalism and for a better world. We work with the Greens where we can, but they are rapidly becoming a kind of progressive ALP-lite, with a green twist, and their politics are confused, at best. If you're interested, there are also introduction to socialism classes being run that might answer some of your questions. PM me if you're interested.

On the Iraq issue, I'd suggest talking to some Socialist Alliance members, or, just as easily, check out some of the debates and discussion that have gone on on RevLeft over the past few years. However, I'd point out that Iraq is already in chaos, due to the invasion in 2003. I have a certain amount of faith people that makes me believe that if they can get the Imperialist countries out, the Iraqi people can rebuild their country without descending into more "chaos". In fact, the longer "we" stay there, the worse it gets. Check out some of the articles at Green Left Weekly (http://www.greenleft.org.au) for more info and data.

Anyway, the next Inner West SA meeting is Tuesday November 7, 7 pm at the Resistance Centre, 23 Abercrombie St Chippendale, if you're interested. Or there are a few stalls around the traps, especially on saturday mornings (Newtown, Marrickville, Glebe, Balmain, etc).
