What do you mean by media players? Like a program that will play any type of media file? Videos? Sound files? Something with lots of features or that can play lots of different things?

For video, i think, a VLC player would be a good idea,

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It can play the vast majority of video formats from my experience.

VCL for Video.

Winamp for Audio.

There are no other options.

Yeah I mean most media files anyway, although the primary focus would be on music... Kind of like Windows Media Player, it's just that I heard there are better ones out there.

Thanks you guys!

It's open-source. It has a lot of cool features like a web browser built into the music player. It can automatically scan your hard drive for all the music files. I use it all the time and it's really neat. Get it!

I use WinAmp/VLC, although I use iTunes to listen to internet radio. That Songbird thing looks cool though, may give that a try...

Just set up Songbird, looks neat but has some minor defaults. It seems to be a beta though, so that should be fixed fairly soon.

Ew

Ew Ew Ew EWW!

I used to do tech in the DJ scene, and theres only one music player worth it. Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org) (click it.)

* Audio formats supported: MP1, MP2, MP3, MP4, MPC, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC / Ogg FLAC, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, AU, SND, CDDA, WMA.
* Full unicode support.
* Advanced tagging capabilities.
* Support for transcoding all supported audio formats using the Converter component (requires external commandline encoder executables for different output formats).
* ReplayGain support - both playback and calculation.
* Customizable keyboard shortcuts.
* Open component architecture allowing third-party developers to extend functionality of the player.

Beat that noobs. :P

Assuming you are using windoze (then you are dead to me).

For mp3s and music in general FooBar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/) is the best.

For videos, etc. Media Player Classic (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/) is best.

That's the only media I can think of!

I was wondering when someone was gonna come up with foobar... I don't like its interface.

Yeah, it's still in 0.20 so there are a few bugs and not all the features are fully functional yet. When Songbird 1.0 comes out it will pwn all the competition.

Sure looks like it, it has lots of potential.
