Alright, I have to do a literary analysis on a fictional work, and since I am into philosophy I thought I'd do one on Thus Spoke Zarathustra. If anyone has any ideas for me let me know, if they are familiar with the different types of literary analysis such as marxist, feminist, sociological, new historicism, psychoanalysis. I have some ideas but I need to argue a thesis obviously and I'm wondering if anyone knows some good characteristics to look at in this book in regards to the different literary theories.

Thanks,
-Brett.

Just say the main character is Jesus and bull shit some stuff up; if the teacher questions you, simply reply "I knew it would be too deep for you"

Or use Hegelian psychobabble and say you did a dialectical analysis of the piece.

As you might expect, I am no literary critic.

hehe, well I'm not either. Actually I dont need much help with the actual paper, but I was curious to know if any comrades had some good ideas for things to look at when looking at this particular piece of work. I would prefer not to do it on something as easy as nietzsche's view of women etc. So I just thought I'd ask to get some fresh ideas if there are any.

 Good one..

i once did something similar...but i started reading Ecce Homo first and i got some good ideas on the topic..the most common litrary anylasis of Zarathustra is poetry serving pilosophy...However i had to write something mainly about Zarthustara himself and why did Nietzsche chose a persian prophet to carry his massage???that was like million years ago...i'll try to find something a draft maybe and post what might help..

i have never read any Nietzsche, but everything's more fun with a bit of psychoanalysis. Sniff out an oedipus complex or a traumatic encounter with the Real!
