2 months ago I found a new place to work at a local hotel in my town. I began work and soon found out that there were many problems with my place of employment. First of all my boss was a major megalomaniac with little respect for the rights and needs of the workers. I found that the work was dehumanizing and left very little time for anything else in life but work, all holidays you are expected to work christmas, new years, whatever. I found that the employees seemed to be divided into two groups those who were against the establishment and those who supported the bosses (even these supporters constantly complained about the conditions when the boss was not present when he was they would kiss his ass royally). I began to think about my rights as a worker and how i could go about acchieving these rights. unfortunately i never got the chance because last night at the end of a 14 hour shift my boss decided to publically disrespect me. I immediately stood up for myself and called him on his inexcusible behaviour, told him to go fuck himself that i quit and i'd see him next week to get my money. All of this has got me to thinking how can us marxists influence our workplaces? How can we form unions? what are the requirements? Should we organize in secret? I would be interested in any of your opinions or suggestions or any information you may be aware of for forming unions.

Well, now that you've quit, it's not much use but:

If you live in the U.S., this is our radical union.
