I'm not sure about this, but would a communist society benefit toward social equality, rather than freedom. Thats what it feels like to me. Or would it be both?

One is impossible without the other.

The basis of equality is that all parties are able to live in an equal society. To be equal, one must be on the same footing as everyone else, without authorities to make decisions for the community. Decisions must therefore be made by the community. A decison-making community without authority can only be constructed if it is done so through free associations. Free associations imply individual liberty, or "freedom".
