food not bombs confronted by nazis. call for solidarity. (Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Sovereign Blackfoot Nation territory)
food not bombs calgary is putting out a call for solidarity support at their next couple of servings.
on wednesday september 6 a couple of neo-nazis and their supporters confronted the fnb servers at olympic plaza, and food not bombs would like to have a strong showing from the community for the next while to dissuade these thugs. one of the quick-witted servers managed to snap a couple of covert photos of the nazis.
Food Not Bombs Call for Solidarity
For those that haven't already heard, today (Wednesday) at the Food Not Bombs serving, two nazis approached us and made fun of a couple volunteers, as well as spat on another volunteer and threw something at him. We did not give them the confrontation they were looking for - and soon after they left a man we had shared free food with called them on their racist bullshit - and the nazis quickley dissapeared on the train.
Although we have recived threats from nazis in the past, to my knowledge this is the first time we have actually been confronted in person. Therefore, as a safety precaution for all our volunteers and the people we share free food with, we are calling out to the community for support. For the next couple of servings (every Wednesday from 6:15pm to 7pm and every Saturday from 12:15pm to 1pm in Olympic Plaza) we would like to invite people to come down and enjoy a free meal with us as well as help to strengthen our numbers, in case the nazis decide to return.
