And before I get flamed, SKINS ARE NOT NAZI'S.


Skinheads, named after their shaven heads, are members of a working class subculture that originated in Britain in the 1960s, where they were heavily influenced by the rude boys of the West Indies and the mods of the UK.


Traditional skinheads (Trads, Trojan Skinheads) - They identify with the original skinhead movement (The Spirit of 69) in terms of music, style, culture and working class pride. Unlike the other categories, traditionalist skinheads often do not regard attitudes toward racism as central to the subculture.

Oi! skins and Punk-skinheads - Originating after the development of punk rock, they prefer Oi! and punk music. They often have shorter hair and more tattoos — and wear items such as high boots, tight jeans, T-Shirts and flight jackets. Although the original Oi! bands advocated a pro-worker populist stance, the Oi! fanbase includes a wide range of political beliefs.

Hardcore skins - A United States-based version of skinheads, part of the hardcore punk music scene associated with bands such as Iron Cross, Agnostic Front, Cro-mags, Sheer Terror, Warzone and Murphy's Law. Originating in the early 1980s, they differ from traditional skinheads by their musical tastes and a style of dress that is less strict. Political views vary, and are not essential to this group.

I personally am a Hardcore Skin. would like to meet and share musicical tastes with any oi punks as I am having a hard time finding good oi punk that is not nazi trash.

ah gaelic. it sounds brilliant. i love oi polloi. i don't say i like particular genres but alot of what i listen to comes mostly from oi, 80's/90's harcore, ska and country. a little rap is good too. public enemy :wub: other bands i like are cock sparrer, lower class brats, GBH and even blitz. i know they are fascists but you get that from some skins. if i like the music and it doesn't have a negative message in the music then it shouldn't matter. "art for arts sake". music doesn't always have to have meaning, especially to other people. aslong as it is fulfilling for the individual then it doesn't matter! ;)

I picked up a Dutch hardcore album last week from an outfit called Oigasm. Just thought I'd mention it, it's a good name for a band.

I'm no skinhead but I've got a wide punk taste and like my Streetpunk-Oi! as much (and sometimes more than) my Hardcore. None of my Hardcore mates can really get it. They are like "It's not fast enough!", as if it has to be blitz-speed to kick ass.

am i right in thinking that trojan skinheads get their name from a sympathy with Trojan Records, the old (and very brilliant, even if they really do release way to many compilations) reggae/ska/dub record company? or did i make that up...?
