Sack Parliament * Stop their wars
9th October - 1pm - Houses of Parliament

Over the past few years the UK parliament and government have led this country into war upon war, torn up age-old rights and made the division between rich and poor to grow ever wider. Despite only 22% of the electorate voting for them the Labour party has suppressed any opposition to its legislation, whilst opposition parties have continued to offer them a veil of legitimacy by engaging in weak debate rather than denouncing this one-party state.

Despite repeated mass protests parliament has ignored those it is supposed to represent and consistently sided with continuing wars and further authoritarian legislation.

We have only one option left: Sack parliament

We must sack parliament because:

* It has been complicit in the war of terror and the continued destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan
* It has failed to condemn and challenge acts of state terror and collective punishment from Lebanon and Palestine to all those illegally interned in Guantanamo Bay and Belmarsh
* It has helped erode our civil rights: the right to free movement, free assembly and free speech have been undermined with curfews, ‘no protest’ zones, ASBOs and increased police power

MPs and Lords return from their summer recess on October 9th. We need to ensure they can’t get back inside Parliament to stop them spreading their culture of fear.

Take part! Stop them continuing their wars.

I have a block of at least a few thousand of those stickers in my room, and the other less attractive variant, and i'm not going to be posting all of them so if anyone would like to take some of them off my hands to post them that would be cool.

You can post me some if you wish. Or else, I will be in london a few days before then, on the, 8th, you could give me some then but that's a bit silly.

It'd be good if you could send me some spare, now I live really close to London I can go to stuff like this and likewise publicise it.

I will be going to the October 9th Sack Parliament direct action event.

I hope as many RevLeft members living in London or the South of Britain can make it, the more the better. You see it is not only a question of getting more people to go to the event in order to raise publicity, but also a quation of getting the ratio of protestors/activists vs. the police to a more favourable ratio for our side.

This event, being a direct action event (not some dull StWC/SWP 'officially sanctioned demo'), will mean that the police will arrest as many as they can, using their batons and tear gas on activists, if they feel the need to. This event is only for those who are willing to face that possibility and the possibility of arrest.

But there are 37,000 police in total in the London area, not all of them can be in the same place, so if we can get big enough numbers in for this event, then the number of activists would be larger than that of the police, thus making it impossible for them to stop the event and thus giving us what we want, which is to close down the opening session of parliament on Oct. 9th.

You seriously think you can get 37,000+ people there? If we get even close to succeeding then they'll poor the entire London police force on us.

You seriously think you can get 37,000+ people there? If we get even close to succeeding then they'll poor the entire London police force on us.

If two million people were able to demonstrate in Feb. 2003, then why is it somehow near impossible to get say 50,000 people to this event. Yes, most people who go to the StWC demos are not the type of people who would be up for direct action, given that many reformists, liberals and others were at past StWC demos and that they are the type of people who have never had to face the harsh side of the law and have no intention of either.

But getting people out there in the thousands is not impossible. In Britain, when a police officer arrests someone, they do it on the basis that there is one activist and two (at least) police officers, so even 17,000 people at this demo will make it near impossible for the pigs to stop us. There is no way that the entire police force can just deal with this event, they have other duties to attend to as well and they cannot all be in the same place.

All it needs is the willpower of our fellow activists and revolutionaries, do attend as this is an event that needs your support! If you live in or near London and there is nothing major on in your life, then there is no excuse!
