Hey, if anyone wants to talk about Rage at all, or any Revolutionary type of music, I wanna talk about it.

When ever I listen to Rage Against the Machine it makes me wanna get up and fuckin start somethin.

I don't know if anyone else feels the same way but...

talk about it

RATM is one of my favorite bands. I wish they hand't broke up because audioslave just isn't anything special. I think Zach made the band. I have yet to find a leftist political band that is even close to as good as Rage is to listen to. There are good bands that aren't political, but I don't know any bands with a sound like Rage.

FreedomWithin
9th September 2006, 07:32
yea i know, they are definately one of a kind.

R.I.P.

RATM

FreedomWithin
9th September 2006, 07:53
anybody like Operation Ivy?

they were one of a kind as well. Although less revolutionary music than the topic of RATM. but they were still great.
too bad they broke up after like 2 years...

why do all the best unique bands break up?

maybe it makes them even better because they will be well remembered that way. I don't really know. Let's talk about it.

(I also love bands like the Clash and Rancid)

alright, nice

I dont know if anyon has heard of this band, but they're called Against All Authority.
They're punk/ska/hardcore
really good though, I think

look 'em up. :)

and even though I'm really only into punk, reggae, and ska, I also love and respect System of a Down because they have great messages in their songs.
Plus they are really creative

Yea!
that's what I'm talkin about!
I love that feeling
And I especially love the end of Freedom
you know, that big build up
and then Zach is just like "FREEDOM!" screamin it over and over again
haha
it's awesome

Yeah Rage were special. Bulls on parade is my favourite. "weapons, not food, not homes, not shoes, not need, just feed the war canibal animal" that is poetry. A great band.

Rage were the band that got me into Socialism in the first place. I'd heard of them so I decided to start listening to them. When I heard their message, that was it, I was a changed person :P

By the way, aren't RATM threads usually merged together because there's so many of them? Why not make it a sticky?

well, this isn't just a RATM thread, I kinda wanted it to be about revolutionary music in general but RATM as the main topic.

RATM were the greatest. Zack has his own solo career going for him. He did a song with KRS-1 called CIA that I found to be great.

What about Bulls on Parade and Killing in the Name? And Sleep Now in the Fire?

I dont know, it's your opinion

I probably started looking into leftist ideas because of these guys. They were definately the people that opened the door for me and I think they are one of the best bands the world has seen.

Audioslave was a let down for me.

Audioslave was a let down for me.

I disagree, musically I thought that Chris Chris Cornell's voice really complimented the band.

Though, I have to say I prefer soundgarden to both bands.

FreedomWithin

yea i know, audioslave was a letdown.

with chris cornell, the singer of Soundgarden

hes a good singer and all, but he shouldnt have gotten together with Rage.

they play totally different music now than Rage.
Rage will live on as a band that could never be imitated.
I will always love 'em

Rage Against The Machine, Evil Empire, and Renegades are my favs, even though The Battle of Los Angeles has good songs, i think people tend to stick to it more because of the popularity of it instead of looking at the other albums.

I know someone here has to like Propaghandi too :P

Rage Against the Machine is without a doubt one of the greatest bands to ever play. It's too bad they broke up. They first opened my mind to the fact that there are choices other than capitalism.

If anyone like RATM they should check out this band from Vancouver. They're called Tons of Fun University (T.O.F.U.). Kind of an odd name but they have some great messages in their peices about the world capitalism has created. They do kind of a hip hop/spoken word thing. Definately a band worth checking out.

Rage is perfect for what they do and is the best political band of all time!

They do what they do better then anyone else.

If they hadn't broken up im sure they would have started a revolution!

But they still opened many people's eye's with the balls to the wall, head banging, radical, power of their music!

And I LOVE Sublime! First song I ever heard was Wrong Way in like 2nd grade. Bought every album ever since haha.

In addition to several hundred other bands which, probability dictates, you have never even listened too.

But that is beside the point, shouldn't you be out in a kiddies play park smoking weak cigarettes and sniffing poppers, with all the other wannabe rebel punk kids? As opposed to following me into various threads and trolling or have I unfortunatly mistaken you for one of those wannabe punk kids who actually have some form of a social life... if you can call it that.

Rage are a professional band who make a living of their work and their music contains revolutionary slogans and ideas. I think it's great that they're on a big label as this just means they reach more people.

By the by, what does the size of the record label matter? They're still capitalist enterprises...unless of course you identify with the "local businessman" (i.e smaller bourgeois) rather than the exploited worker.

I never really cared for them. Their music is monotonous, repetitive, and politically immature. Their politics have too much of a petit-bourgeois liberal Michael Moorist character. Although their music was edgy, I found their vocals to be awful.
