Does anyone know of a good book specifically on the People's Republic of Korea (PRK) that briefly existed following the korean liberation after WWII? It was an extremely decentralized government, giving power to 151 regional committees directly elected by the people. It was this period that saw Korean workers seizing work places from foreign owners and peasants seizing land. As far as I know the PRK (Not to be confused with kim's gov't started in the north) supported these actions and was quasi-socialist, though ultimately a popular front government.

Along with any good books on the PRK, does anyone know where I could find the parties platform issued in 1945 that supported land seizures, rent control, etc. etc. I am most interested.

edit add: my mistake, i meant the Korean People's Republic (KPR)

yes, i saw that. unfortunately it isn't very detailed.

What i find interesting about the period of Korean liberation is that it parallels the russian revolution--the spontaneous creation of people's committee's to direct local government, the seizure of factory's (in particular those owned by japan) by workers, and the implementation of a more egalitarian direct democracy... later to be undermined by 'C'ommunists like Kim Il Sung, just as the Bolsheviks undermined the soviet system.
