Welcome to the website of the Lisa Weltman Presidential Exploratory Committee. We are a group of political activists who have come together to build a campaign support network that is large enough and serious enough to convince Lisa Weltman to declare her independent candidacy for President of the United States.
We believe that Lisa Weltman has proven her ability to win popular support for a working people’s alternative to the candidates of the two main political parties of capitalism, the Republicans and Democrats. Moreover, she has also proven that she can win the support of large sections of those who have historically supported these parties, for one reason or another, by presenting a clear class-based program for building a new society — one that works for working people.
Most “independent” and “third party” candidates run one of two types of campaigns: either they run an unserious “educational/party building” campaign that is more about increasing the memberships of their respective parties and organizations than about accomplishing their goals, or they run a campaign that trades principles for image. Lisa Weltman has already made it clear that, if she decides to run, she intends to run a serious “run to win” campaign that is uncompromising in its principles.
In addition, Lisa Weltman has also made clear that her campaign is also about organizing a mass political movement of working people fighting for their own empowerment and liberation from the society we live in today — a society of exploitation, oppression and terror. No single election campaign will change this country or the world, but it can become the launching point for that change. Abraham Lincoln’s presidential campaign of 1860 was such an effort.
Lisa would like everyone who is interested in seeing her become a candidate for President of the United States to know that she cannot and will not do it without your help. She has set some basic criteria that we as the Exploratory Committee have to meet in order for her to agree to throw her hat into the ring.
So, if you are tired of candidates and that stand for the same old system of war, poverty and repression, or only want to try to “improve” that system, and if you are ready to work to build a society that works for working people — for you, your family and your children — then help us organize a serious campaign to put Lisa Weltman, an independent working-class woman, in the White House!
