There's another thread going on about head coverings at protests, and I was just thinking...

As a biker, I have a few pairs of leather pants, and I love them. But even a well worn pair of leather pants isn't as flexible as jeans. However, jeans don't offer the protection that leather does.

So what I'm wondering is has anyone worn leather pants in a direct action, black bloc, or fascist bashing situation, and what are your opinions of protection versus flexibility.

Seeing as you are a biker I'll skip the image jokes. How easy is it to run in leather pants?

Run, easy. Scamper over fences, that's another story.

I'd say it all depends on the situation - one on one, old style, I'd say as little on as possible to maximize speed (Speed is the best in 1 on 1), but against others/escaping, etc, I don't really have any expierience/knowledge on that.

I don't think leather would be much better than jeans for your legs.. they're not a prime target anyway. Leather jackets would be useful, but homemade armor or padding is pretty simple.
