Thursday, September 7: Organizing Meetings at 7 pm Nation-wide
In every city where World Can't Wait has organization, and in many cities where it doesn't yet, people will gather simultaneously at 7pm on Thursday September 7 to get organized. They'll hear from leaders of the movement, and meet others in their area ready to organize for a day of mass protest exactly 4 weeks later. Then, on Thursday October 5, in those cities, and more, people will make a huge political statement that cannot be ignored by massing in large numbers to say: "Bring This to a Halt! The World Can't Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!"

Speakers at Sept. 7 meetings will include: Father Luis Barrios, William Blum, Larry Brinkin, Elaine Brower, Kathleen Chalfant, Chris Daly, Jesse Diaz Jr., Daniel Ellsberg, Esther Kaplan, Mark Crispin Miller, Chris Owens, Malik Rahim, Jean Rohe, Jed Stone, Jonathan Tasini, Rev. Charles Tigard, Bob Watada, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, & Kevin Zeese.

(if there isn't a meeting in your area, start one!)

FoB, what makes you say that? There are already over 40 cities listed as having meetings, with more being added by the hour. I personally have talked with hundreds of people about the September 7th meeting and many have committed to coming out.

People do not "spontaneously" gather. They do things out of neccessity.

Let's say however that people do gather. They do show mass resistance. Bush does step down. Then what? Some other douchebag takes his place.

I'm sure than many many of the WCW activists, including you, have good intentions, I just feel they are fighting the wrong causes. A particular president shouldn't be our enemy, the whole system should be our enemy.

(this is red winter again)

I think you misread the posting, it said "simultaneously" not "spontaneously." If it did say that, it would have been wrong and I'd have agreed with you. Obviously if I'm posting this online on various forums, I don't think it's gonna come out of thin air.

But yeah, I definitely agree that driving out the Bush regime is not the solution to all our problems under the capitalist-imperialist system. However, I feel that it's an important step to repolarizing the political situation in the United States to make revolution a real possibility in the here and now. World Can't Wait is a mass organization made up of many diverse groups of people, from Democratic party representatives and peaceniks to anarchists and revolutionary communists.

If we create a political situation in the US where the people are mobilized to actually force the standing government to step down, tens of millions would have their sights raised to revolution and visions of a better world. And revolutionaries would have a hell of a lot better situation to work in than the current trajectory the Bush regime is heading in, with potentially nuclear war on Iran looming on the horizon and Christian Fascism on the way here at home.

Now that we've cleared up that little miscommunication, I'd like to hear your further thoughts FoB...
